Found September 17, 2013 on Fox Sports Tennessee:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Sunday, Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt caught only two passes and was curiously missing during a stretch of offensive plays during the loss at Houston. On Monday, Titans coach Mike Munchak confirmed he sidelined Britt for a short time in an attempt to "refocus" the receiver in the second half, after his second holding penalty in as many weeks negated a key 10-yard run. On Tuesday, Britt sent out a message on his Twitter account that read, "Looks like the Titans pullin that Jared Cook card .. Looking like this the last year ill be sayin TitanUP .. So lets make it a Great year." Britt was referring to former Titans tight end Jared Cook, who played out the last year of his initial contract in 2012 with some acrimony and was not re-signed. He inked a free agency deal with St. Louis for 2013. (Editor's note: It was erroneously reported by another media outlet that Britt had been kicked off the team. But the Titans confirmed that wasn't the case.) The report claiming Kenny Britt has been dismissed from the Titans is bogus. Thinking someone got Britt confused with Vandy's Chris Boyd Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) September 17, 2013 Britt, a first-round pick from '09, is in the final year of his initial contract. There has reportedly been no movement on either side to re-sign Britt, who has been hampered by knee injuries the past few seasons. "I think it was more of get him out and refocus him," Munchak said of sitting Britt for a few plays. "We can't have that in the game. We do this with other players also when something comes up more than one time. It was more of making sure were on the same page with that so hes smart with his hands." In two games, Britt has five catches for 43 yards, with 15 as the longest gain. After being targeted twice in the season-opening win at Pittsburgh, Britt had nine balls thrown his way against Houston. He returned to the game Sunday and was missed on a key 3rd-and-1 situation, stemming from an errant Jake Locker toss. "I'd love to be involved as much as they want me to be, as much as I've been in the past," Britt was quoted as saying Monday. "But as the game rolls out, I am there when they need me. "I am not the coordinator, and I am not the quarterback they decide where the ball goes. I am still ready to go. It is a long season and we have a lot of games to go." Last season, Britt played in all 16 games for the first time in four seasons. He started only six and finished with 42 catches for 701 yards and three touchdowns but was never 100 percent while recovering from surgeries on both knees (in recent years). Britt was not available for comment Tuesday.
