The Raiders sign the #13 overall pick Brock Bowers to a four-year deal with a fully-guaranteed $18.1 million on Thursday, the team announced.

Bowers became the choice for the Raiders once the quarterback choices became bleak after all of the top talent was selected before their pick. The Raiders went with the best player available. Michael Myer was the Raiders second round draft pick last year in the draft. Team officials are clearly intrigued with the idea of running two tight end sets. Can they duplicate what New England did with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez is the question. That was the last time that we say a dominate two tight end combination.
“We’re looking to add more playmakers to the offense, and they come in all shapes and sizes, in all different positions,” Telesco said. “And we love Michael Mayer — I love Michael Mayer — and he’s a really good player. He’s going to take another big jump this year. But you get a chance to add just another dimension to the offense. Whether it’s a tight end, hybrid receiver, whatever it is, you need more playmakers on that side of the ball.
Bowers played in 40 career games over three seasons and totaled 175 receptions for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns, earning First Team All-American honors three times – becoming only the third player in program history to accomplish the feat. He also became the first back-to-back winner of the John Mackey Award (2022, 2023), given to the nation’s top tight end.
