Kansas City Chiefs
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- It was not one of those performances that will be given a corner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for documentation. On Sunday, the Denver Broncos couldn't care less, as they carved out a gritty 17-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The winning effort was the sixth straight victory for the Broncos, who are 8-3 and maintain at least a three-game lead in the AFC West with five games to play. The Chiefs have lost eight in a row and are 1-10. The Broncos were a scoring machine in the first five games of their winning streak, putting 30 or more points on the scoreboard in every victory. But the struggling Chiefs found some passion and performance and they were able to keep this game in doubt until the final moments. Denver's defense was able to keep the K.C. offense out of the end zone, although running back Jamaal Charles ran for 107 yards. With just over 5 minutes to play in the first half, the Chiefs led 6-0 thanks to a pa...
BEST OF MAXIM
Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles stuck around following Kansas City's loss to Denver on Sunday to meet Peyton Manning and get the quarterback's autograph.
The Kansas City Chiefs need to get real for second about Matt Cassel. In the NFL, the quarterbacks always get the blame for the team when things don’t go well, but it isn’t Cassel’s fault. Chief fans are already clamoring to pick Geno Smith in the NFL draft and that would be a mistake. It’s not a mistake because of Smith not being a good quarterback, but the real issue on...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Chiefs waived offensive lineman Rich Ranglin on Saturday and elevated wide receiver Jamar Newsome from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
Newsome originally joined the Chiefs' practice squad in December 2011 after playing two games with Jacksonville that season. The former Central Florida player also spent time on Pittsburgh'...
With the Chiefs going into this game with the least scored points in the NFL they still have some great threats on the field and I will tell you who and what they have to do to get a win in the book. Even though they are in the fight for the first pick in this coming draft I would like to see another win out of them. Please.Or even try something new with the team and see what can...
Peyton Manning threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns, and the Denver Broncos rallied to beat the woeful Kansas City Chiefs 17-9 on Sunday for their sixth straight win.
Manning hit tight end Jacob Tamme late in the first half and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in the third quarter, and that was more than enough to overcome three field goals by the Chiefs' Ryan Succop as Kansas...
Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno started and rushed for 85 yards on 20 carries Sunday while rookie Ronnie Hillman had nine yards on three carries.Fantasy Spin:Moreno was also used on passing downs and caught four balls for 26 yards. It was a solid performance for a running back that's likely being given his last chance to succeed with the team that drafted him. It doesn&...
Kansas City wideout Dwayne Bowe, who sat out the entire second half Sunday against Cincinnati with neck and back problems, is active for the game against Denver.Fantasy Spin:That's the good news. The bad news is that Brady Quinn is his starting quarterback and he'll be covered by the talented Champ Bailey.
Kansas City wideout Dwayne Bowe saw 12 targets Sunday but had just four receptions for 41 yards.Fantasy Spin:Bowe had to catch passes from Brady Quinn while watching Peyton Manning sling the ball to Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. How cruel. He should be parked on fantasy benches.
Continuing on with rivalry weekend, the (1-9) Chiefs welcome a surging (7-3) Denver Broncos squad to town in hopes of causing a major upset to the conference title hopes of Peyton Manning and company.
If there was any doubt about the health of Manning, they have been put together but his season to date. Manning has returned to MVP form, and has his Broncos playing superbowl caliber...
On Wednesday, I declared that Denver’s Von Miller was a more complete player than San Francisco’s Aldon Smith.
Later that evening, a 49ers fan, @CHerrera1106 on Twitter, responded to my proclamation. Unfortunately, Chris’s mentions remained unnoticed on my Twitter feed until Saturday morning. Fortunately, I was able to respond to Chris on Saturday evening, starting a...
