All four Denver Broncos who are in the Hall of Fame gathered Wednesday night at a gala in honor of team owner Pat Bowlen's contributions to the community. With John Elway, Shannon Sharpe, Floyd Little and Gary Zimmerman on hand, the 69-year-old Bowlen received the Mizel Institute's 2013 Community Enrichment Award for his philanthropic leadership in Colorado and his nearly three-decade long stewardship of the Broncos. Bowlen is chairman of the board of Denver Broncos Charities, which has donated more than $25 million to charitable organizations over the last 20 years. The Broncos have averaged 10 wins a season in Bowlen's 29 years at the helm. The team's 177 home wins are the most in the NFL during that time and the Broncos' five losing seasons are the fewest in the league over that span.

Broncos’ defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio says Nate Irving will get the first chance at middle linebacker: ‘He's getting the first crack at it”

Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio understands where the NFL is heading and he wants a middle linebacker who can travel in the same direction. NFL offenses are exploding, the read-option, the no huddle, and the hurry up are just a few new wrinkles teams are throwing at opposing defenses. Del Rio is looking for a player who can diagnose what’s going on and then get his teammates...

Blake Gideon Of The Denver Broncos Retires, Mario Fannin Waived

The Denver Broncos have gotten word that safety Blake Gideon is retiring from the National Football League. Gideon, who was an undrafted free agent just a year ago has given up on the thought of making it as a player in the game and will now focus on the next part of his life. FFLockerRoom wishes Gideon well in any venture that he takes on. In another move, Denver has also waived...

Wes Welker: “If I have to catch 112 balls, that probably means we’re in trouble”

Wes Welker, Demaryus Thomas and Eric Decker all caught over 80 passes last season.  All three players should expect to a dramatic reduction now that Welker came over from New England. Welker sounds like he’s fine with not catching a lot of balls this season. “If I have to catch 112 balls, that probably means we’re in trouble,” Welker said, per the Denver Post. Welker says...

Wes Welker: Broncos ‘in trouble’ if I have to catch 112 passes

During his time with the New England Patriots, Wes Welker was arguably the most reliable receiver in the league. The 112 passes he caught per year proved he was Tom Brady’s favorite target, but that does not mean he will serve the same role for Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Welker played alongside Randy Moss for three seasons, but he has never played with as talented a...

Harris aims to fend off Rodgers-Cromartie

The Denver Broncos keep bringing in veteran free-agent cornerbacks and Chris Harris keeps fending them off. He aims to do the same with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who signed a one-year, $5 million deal with Denver this spring. Last season, the Broncos brought in Drayton Florence and Tracy Porter. Florence was cut in training camp and Porter started the season as the right cornerback...

Rahim Moore would welcome Charles Woodson to Broncos: ‘I hope that we get him because I'm all about competition’

The story of Rahim Moore and the blown coverage in the 12012 AFC Divisional game is well known. Moore has been battling through an offseason of 'bad comments’ and regaining his confidence to go back out there and finish the job. The courting of veteran safety Charles Woodson puts Moore in a tough place. He wants to redeem himself, but if a player of Woodson’s ilk comes...

Nalen says he tried to hurt Olshansky in '06

Former Denver Broncos center Tom Nalen made up for all those ''no comments'' during his 15-year career during an extraordinary half hour Thursday that at times showed precisely why he was wise to stay silent rather than speak his mind. While meeting with the media to talk about his election into the team's Ring of Fame, Nalen insisted he wasn't a dirty player...

Tom Brady on Wes Welker, Danny Amendola

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will spend this season answering Wes Welker questions. Welker has been Brady’s most reliable target over his Hall of Fame career and the two are incredibly close personally. When Welker walked out of New England under terse circumstances, Brady was the man in the middle. He spoke with WEEI, Brady was very frank. Brady also spent time...

Wes Welker says, ‘If I have to catch 112 balls, that probably means we're in trouble’

New Denver Broncos receiver Wes Welker doesn’t believe he needs to catch over a hundred balls for the team’s offense for them to be successful. Welker feels it should be the inverse, the less he has to catch, the more productive the offense will be. During his time in New England, Welker was a pass catching machine from the slot position. As Tom Brady’s security blanket...

Broncos have nice problem on their hands

Prima donna wide receivers are all the rage in today's air-it-out NFL, demanding passes and attention, preening for crowds and cameras. Not in Denver. Led by the shy Demaryius Thomas, the soft-spoken Wes Welker and the selfless Eric Decker, the Broncos represent the antithesis of those high-maintenance superstars who are always going back to the huddle telling the quarterback...

Peyton Manning flattered by Jerry Jones' comments

On the same day it was reported that Tony Romo will miss the Dallas Cowboys' organized team activities because of a minor procedure to remove a cyst from his back, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning gave his thoughts on Jerry Jones saying Romo will be putting in "Peyton Manning-type time on the job." "I guess I would take that as a flattering comment. It...

You’re not gonna see Tom Brady cry over Wes Welker

Tom Brady is moving forward this season, his 14th with the New England Patriots, treating it not much different from others. He is putting in the hardwork, with the same drive and determination that has made him one of the all-time greats at his position. But this year will have a slightly different look than the previous five, as his favorite target, Wes Welker, is now catching...
