After fumbling in the first quarter Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, Broncos rookie running back Ronnie Hillman was benched by coach John Fox the rest of the game.
"I made a mistake, I'm living with it," Hillman said after practice Wednesday. "I'm not going to be mad about it. What he did was justified."
Although it was Hillman's only lost fumble of the season, he was replaced in the backup role by veterans Lance Ball and Jacob Hester, who combined for 111 yards on 22 carries against the Chiefs. Hillman finished his rookie season with 330 yards rushing on 85 carries, a 3.9-yard average.
"I have to win Coach Fox's confidence back, my teammates," Hillman said. "I let them down at that point, but I have to do something to work hard this week and move forward and try not to let it happen again."

John Elway on Peyton Manning’s execution: “I think it’s his attention to detail”
John Elway walks among the NFL greats of all time, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time; Elway knew he wanted Peyton Manning.
He said in the spring Manning was the same quarterback he was in Indianapolis, at the time it sounded like hyperbole, but in reflection, he was right.
Manning is a tactician who knows just about everything there is to know about quarterbacking...
Rookie RB loses grip on ball, backup job
Denver coach John Fox makes it pretty clear: running backs have to hold on to the ball to hang on to their jobs. Rookie Ronnie Hillman is just hoping he's not in the Broncos' doghouse as long as Knowshon Moreno was.
Moreno didn't suit up for two months after coughing up the football at Atlanta in Week 2, finally getting another chance - and running with it - in November...

There are currently four teams courting Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, hoping to fill their head coaching gigs. On Wednesday, head coach John Fox revealed why McCoy has such a hot candidate.
“He’s a heck-of-a coach,” said Fox, who has worked with McCoy since 2002.
“Anytime with team success, your guys get opportunities,...

Manning has made all of the Broncos better
John Elway insisted that every one of the Denver Broncos was better the second Peyton Manning put his signature on that nearly $100 million contract last spring.

Football Outsiders has run virtual instances of the NFL playoffs 50,000 times. After compiling all of the data from these scenarios, it looks like the Denver Broncos have the best shot at winning the Super Bowl, winning the virtual championship 26.2% of the time. Not surprisingly, New England comes in second at 24.3%.

Denver Broncos: Wild Card Round Power Rankings (#2)
It’s 2006 again. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning appear to be on a crash course. Both quarterbacked arguably the best teams in the league (the Broncos and Patriots ranked 2nd and 3rd in the NFL in DVOA, but I don’t trust #1 Seattle on the road). Both are MVP candidates. Peyton Manning is currently viewed as the favorite, but I think that’s both undeserved and beneficial to the...
Hillman's fumble could mean bench for playoffs
Denver Broncos rookie running back Ronnie Hillman fumbled in the first quarter of Sunday's 38-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, which could have him in the Broncos dog house for the playoffs.
On the fumble, Hillman almost got tackle Orlando Franklin injured as his legs got tangled while trying to tackle Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers. He was out for one series but then...
