One day after re-signing linebacker Joe Mays, the Denver Broncos agreed to terms with fellow linebacker Wesley Woodyard on Monday, per ESPN‘s Josian Anderson. The deal is a two year contract which will keep Woodyard in Denver through the 2014 season.
All of Denver’s starting linebackers from last season are now under contract for the 2012 season. In 2011, D.J. Williams started at “Will” (weak-side outside linebacker), Mays started at “Mike” (middle linebacker) and Von Miller was the “Sam” (strong-side outside linebacker). Woodyard was a special teams captain and started in seven games early in the season while Williams was injured.
A 6-0, 229 pound Kentucky graduate, Woodyard joined the Broncos in 2008 as an undrafted free agent. Woodyard, 25, has been a Team Captain in Denver every season since he entered the league and had a career year in 2011 when he recorded 97 tackles and forced two fumbles.
Woodyard is expected to have a rotational role on Denver’s 4-3 defense this season and he remains one of the team’s best special teams players.

The Denver Broncos re-signed starting middle linebacker Joe Mays on Sunday, the team announced.
Though he is the incumbent starting middle linebacker in Denver, some view him as an incompetent starting middle linebacker. With good thumping ability and impressive strength, Mays...
As Tebowmania grew last season into a full-blown phenomenon, John Elway's obvious indifference to his pop-icon quarterback never seemed to change. Some interpreted this as a sign that Elway's personnel opinions were not driven by results -- Denver was winning games, after all -- as much as his ego and some weird sense of rivalry with Tim Tebow, who was suddenly more popular...
Let the Tim Tebow sweepstakes begin.
With Peyton Manning supplanting Tebow as Denver's starting quarterback, other teams have discussed acquiring the unconventional Tebow from the Broncos, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, according to an ESPN.com report.
Among those teams, one league source categorized the Jets as "...
Peyton Manning apparently does not read this blog anymore. It must have been the far too sporadic updates.
I opined yesterday that the destination that would make the most sense for Manning would be the San Francisco 49ers, but the future Hall of Famer will become the next starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos, according to reports.
The Broncos won the AFC West last year...
Today the Denver Broncos were the winners of the “Peyton Manning Sweepstakes” sending the NFL world into a frenzy. Not only because Peyton will be wearing something other than a Colts uniform, but because the Broncos already had a QB in Tim Tebow. Immediately following the end of the season when the Broncos were sent packing by the Patriots, Broncos VP of football operations...
Tim Tebow wants to take his talents back to Florida, according to a close friend of the unconventional quarterback.
Tebow -- likely to be jettisoned by the Broncos following the signing of four-time MVP Peyton Manning -- apparently prefers his next NFL destination to be the Sunshine State, where he came to fame playing for the University of Florida.

According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning’s representatives are hoping to get a deal finalized by Tuesday in order to introduce him later in the day at a team press conference.
As both sides wrap things up, the NFL is reviewing the language of the deal. But right now, it looks like Manning could officially become a Bronco by Tuesday afternoon.
Quarterback Peyton Manning has officially joined the Denver Broncos as he agreed to a five-year deal worth $96M, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
This is a mammoth - especially for a 36-year-old quarterback who didnt play a single down in 2011 due to a neck injury. But, if healthy, Denver will raise their odds of reaching the Super Bowl over the next few years -...
Finally, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning made his decision. It likely stemmed from his friendship with Hall of Fame QB and Denver Broncos executive John Elway. The Denver Broncos give Peyton Manning a great shot to win, but they must address some needs moving forward.
The Tennessee Titans looked like the best fit for Peyton Manning. The blind side of their offensive...
Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos have agreed to terms on a five-year, $96 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Shefter.
While the report is missing a key ingredient—guaranteed money—which will determine the real value of the deal, it’s highly unlikely Manning will actually receive $96 million over five years in Denver.
The inevitable first-ballot Hall of Famer...
Dear John Elway,
Thank you, thank you, a thousand times, thank you. You found a way out of the Tim Tebow era and no one will ever question it. Well, maybe a few religious zealots in Denver will but honestly, who gives two ***** about those yahoos? I don’t and now I know that you don’t either. Peyton Manning is arguably one of the top five QB’s ever and you got him to come to...
According to a lot of reports in the NFL world. The Jets have interest in making a trade for Tim Tebow from the Broncos.
