Still stinging from defensive mishaps in last Saturday's AFC Divisonal playoff loss, the Denver Broncos promoted Cory Undlin to secondary coach and did not renew the contract of Ron Milus, the team announced Tuesday. Milus was the previous secondary coach. The Broncos fell in overtime after allowing the Baltimore Ravens to tie the game with less than a minute to play in regulation time on a 70-yard touchdown pass that was helped by two blown coverage assignments. Undlin was the defensive quality control coach, helping the Broncos' defense improve 6.3 points a game compared to last season and finishing No 3 against the pass. He previously coached the defensive backs in Jacksonville for two seasons and the linebackers for one. Milus, who has been an NFL assistant for 13 seasons, followed head coach John Fox when he came to Denver in 2011.
