Following the Denver Broncos‘ 34-14 win over the New Orleans Saints last week, the NFL informed the team on Wednesday that outside linebacker Wesley Woodyard has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Additionally, the offensive line has received the Madden Most Valuable Protectors Award for Week 8.
Against the Saints, Woodyard became just the ninth player since sacks began to be tracked in 1982 to record at least 10 tackles, one sack, one interception and one forced fumble in the same game. Meanwhile, the offensive line allowed zero sacks and helped running back Willis McGahee rush for 122 yards and a score.
Quarterback Peyton Manning is also in the voting to be named the FedEx Air Player of the Week. Fans can vote for Manning at NFL.com/FedEx.
On the team’s injury front, the entire roster was on the field for practice Wednesday morning, including cornerback Tracy Porter (illness). With a Week 9 match against the Bengals on deck, the ...

Young teammates upset with Stokley
The Broncos brought in Brandon Stokley to provide veteran leadership, and that's exactly what he did for Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker on Sunday.
The Unsung Heroes: Clady, Prater, Woodyard
The Denver Broncos have picked up steam at 4-3 after falling only to New England (5-3), Houston (6-1), and Atlanta (7-0) early in the season. Coming off two convincing victories with a two-game lead in the AFC West race, quarterback Peyton Manning has received much of the credit for Denver’s hot streak.
And while Manning has been in the driver’s seat directing the Broncos...
Woodyard enjoying a breakout season for Broncos
Wesley Woodyard has no intention of slipping back into a substitute role when D.J. Williams returns from his nine-game, NFL-mandated banishment next month.
The Broncos have no plans of letting him off the field, either. He's the first Denver defender to record 50 tackles with multiple sacks (three) and interceptions (two) before the midway point of the season.
The fifth-year...
Broncos activate rookie safety Duke Ihenacho
(Image courtesy of Ron Chenoy/US Presswire)
The Broncos placed middle linebacker Joe Mays on the injured reserve list earlier today. Taking Mays’ spot on the active roster will be rookie safety Duke Ihenacho, who was activated from the team’s practice squad this afternoon.
Replacing Ihenacho on the practice squad will be cornerback Mario Butler, who has spent time on the...
Broncos LB Wesley Woodyard Named AFC Defensive Player Of Week 8
Denver Broncos linebacker Wesley Woodyard was named the AFC Players of the Week for Week 8.
Woodyard received defensive honors by recording 13 tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble in Denver's 34-14 victory over the New Orleans Saints. He is the first player since 2007 to have double-digit tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble in the same game...
Peyton Manning Leading The Broncos While He Leads The NFL In Q.B. Rating
For those who thought Peyton Manning was finished as an NFL Quarterback, think again. The 36-year-old quarterback is the highest rated Q.B. in the NFL right now this season. Manning’s rating of 109.0 tops the list as he leads his Denver Broncos to some wins. Manning has already passed for 2,113 yards this season and we are only half way through the year. Peyton Manning is finding...
Peyton Manning isn't bothered in practice by smashed thumb
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning looked sharp in Wednesday's practice with no problems throwing the ball, according to The Denver Post.
Manning's right thumb smacked the helmet of Saints defensive end Martez Wilson after Manning completed a pass to Eric Decker in Sunday night's 34-14 victory.
Nobody really knew the extent of the injury or how it would affect...
Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas dressed up as a replacement referee for Halloween
Relevant!
So Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas dressed up as a replacement referee for Halloween, and somehow I’m not the least bit impressed. The NFL just finished up week 8 and the replacement officials haven’t been seen or heard from since week 3, which makes this costume rather lame. Now, had he worn the outfit and added a Home Depot apron or something, then maybe Thomas would...
Demaryius Thomas dressed as a replacement ref for Halloween (Picture)
Anyone who pays attention to sports had to know that replacement referee costumes would be popular this Halloween. However, you would have to be pretty bold to be an NFL star and go down that road, but Denver Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas clearly had no problem doing that recently. As you can see from the photo above that Peter Burns shared with us on Twitter, Thomas went with...

Broncos Injury Report: Peyton Manning's Thumb "OK"
The Denver Broncos can ill-afford an injury to Peyton Manning. And Peyton Manning surely doesn't want to be sidelined again after missing time due to his surgically repaired neck. Fortunately, his thumb is doing alright after being struck by the helmet of New Orleans Saints defensive end Martez Wilson.
According to a report released by the Associated Press, Manning&...
Broncos Place LB Joe Mays On Injured Reserve
The Broncos placed linebacker Joe Mays on injured reserve Tuesday with a left ankle injury. It's been a rough year for Mays. First, he loses his job as the starting middle linebacker and now he suffered a season-ending injury. Source: CBSSports Attached Thumbnails
Fantasy spin: no one goes hungry in Denver… enough points to go around
In the days leading up to the week 8 contests I posted an article deriding a fantasy analyst who suggested that a fantasy GM simply could not start Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks at the same time because they both played for the Giants. As it turns out, both players turned in duds but the moral is that the fact that one fantasy owner starts them both, shouldn't matter.
Just look...
