Brown Not Happy With His Contract

Brown Not Happy With His Contract PDF Print E-mail Written by Garry Cobb Wednesday, 04 March 2009 Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown said he's happy for Lito Sheppard and his trade to the Jets along with a new contract.

But behind the scenes, a league source told me Brown is steaming about his contract, which is similar to the one which Sheppard demanded to have redone.

He just saw Sheppard get out of here and get a new contract, despite the fact that Brown played all last season and the season before while Sheppard was down with injuries.

Here's how it read on Philly.com

"Without a doubt," Brown said yesterday by cell phone. "Lito was like a little brother to me. You want to see everybody be as happy as they can be, and he was a tremendous teammate. What he did last year spoke volumes about his character. He could have torn the team apart."

Now the Eagles have to deal with this question: Is Brown going to be the next player to express his contract dissatisfaction?

"I'll let my agent handle that," the veteran cornerback said. "I will say this: Sometimes dependability is better than ability. If somebody has outplayed his contract, I think it would be a guy you can count on week in and week out."

Sheppard, who will start for the Jets after being demoted to the fourth cornerback for the Eagles last season, received a reported four-year extension through 2013. He will have to earn a $10 million bonus by playing well in 2009 because that bonus does not kick in until March of next year."

We'll see if Brown ever decides to go public with his unhappiness. I see no reason twhy he should complain about his contract, since the Eagles are right up against the cap. LOL
