The Cleveland Browns are purposely keeping their general manager Michael Lombardi away from the media. Browns CEO Joe Banner describe Lombardi as a bit of a lightning rod, when asked about Lombardi by the Cleveland Plain Dealer Banner made this statement; “I’m just being very honest,” Banner told The Plain Dealer at the NFL Annual Meeting on Monday. “Mike is a little bit of a lightning rod. Distraction won’t serve anybody’s interests. He’s got a tremendous amount of work to do right now, and whether that’s good, bad or fair or not it doesn’t really matter. It’s just the reality of the situation.” Didn’t Banner and Haslam think this was going to happen? They should have known better when they hired him to run the Browns. The fans in Cleveland remember all too well what took place with the Browns the last time Lombardi was in Cleveland. How are they going to handle this from this point forward? Are they going to let Lombardi go to the games? The media is really going to have fun with thi

  • i think Lombardi got a raw deal from the fans. while he was under Bill's (Belichek) tutaladge, we were building a champion as evidenced when Baltimore won the superbowl. don't blame Lombardi for Arts F-up when he moved the team in 95. we were picked to win the superbowl that year. remember? Art pulled the rug out 1/4 way thru the season and the team made an about face at that point. thanks again Art. Bernie was the reason everyone hates Lombardi. he was a fan favorite. heck, i liked Bernie too but his time was up in Cleveland. i don't feel sorry for Bernie. he got a ring in Dallas and as we can all see, Bernie had off field issues and maybe Belichek didn't want the distraction. i think Lombardi has the formula for a championship after working for Bill all those years. GO BROWNS!
  • Way to go Browns brass!!!!! Trading away Dawson's just another display of their pretzel logic. I guess instead of going down the field and relying on a sure 3 points, we're going to score touchdowns now with all the good picks they're making.
Dawson wanted more money for a reason......cuz he's the best in the NFl !!!
Moves like this is why we're a loser every year.

Cleveland Browns: Biggest Draft Day Regret In Franchise History

The Cleveland Browns are a stone's throw away from a 50 year championship drought (depending on whether or not you count the years that the team didn't exist).Their recent draft history definitely doesn't help.  They've had some good years, like in 1978- they drafted TE Ozzie Newsome, now a world-champion GM with the Baltimore Ravens, and LB Clay Mathews JR., father...

Cleveland Browns entertaining the idea of Geno Smith

It isn’t often that teams draft a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft two years in a row. But most teams aren’t the Cleveland Browns, who have only been to the playoffs once since returning to the league in 1999, and recorded only two winning seasons. Nobody was incredibly excited about the selection of Brandon Weeden a year ago, and it doesn’t appear as if the...

Haslam expects progress, but not domination

PHOENIX -- Jimmy Haslam gave no brash predictions for the 2013 Cleveland Browns when he met the local media at the NFL Meetings this week. His discussion about his team contained his usual candor and enthusiasm, but it was mixed with a heavy dose of realism. Weve won 23 games in the last five years, 14 games in the last three, Haslam said. So were not going to go 13-3 next year....

The NFL is hell-bent on passing a new rules proposal that would penalize a runner for lowering his head and leading with the helmet at the point of contact with a defender. Pro Football Talk is reporting that Browns running back Trent Richardson and specifically the blow he lowered onto Eagles safety Kurt Coleman will be the standard that the rule will be based off.   As the NFL...
