Beating the clock before rookies report to training camp on Tuesday, the Browns have come to terms with their other first-round pick.
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports quarterback Brandon Weeden has agreed to a four-year, $8.1 million contract, which is fully guaranteed for the first three years. He received a partial guarantee for the fourth.
This comes just several hours after No. 3 overall pick, running back Trent Richardon, got his deal done.
Weeden will be on the practice field Wednesday, joining Richardson, his fellow rookies, and select veterans.
The 28-year-old product out of Oklahoma State, Weeden is expected to compete for the starting job, but indications are it’s just a formality; he’s the obvious quarterback of the future for a team in desperate need of stability.
