How funny is it to visit the official site of the Cleveland Browns and see an article about Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden remembering the Senior Bowl?  You would have thought with the way Weeden played it would have been a game he would have tried to forget about. Weeden played in the 2012 game as a member of the South team. He stunk in the game. People said after Weeden’s performance in the Senior bowl, he erased a  good showing in the week of practice leading up to the game. Weeden went 5 for 9 and threw 2 interceptions in the Senior Bowl. Immediately Weeden’s draft stock started to fall faster than the 2008 market crash.  That means Weeden went just 2 for 9 in the game. Weeden was asked to run a pro-style offense after coming from Oklahoma state where he ran the spread style of offense and Weeden failed miserably in the Senior bowl. Another comment that was made about Weeden’s draft chance after his Senior Bowl apperence went like this; “If this elder prospect is going to mak...

Michael Lombardi Thought Colt McCoy Gave The Browns A Better Chance To Win In 2012

Michael Lombardi the Browns new General Manager couldn’t believe the Browns would stick with Brandon Weeden, even though the team had a better chance to win with Colt McCoy. The interesting thing will be to see what happens in the 2013 season. McCoy who is still with the Browns could have a chance to start over Brandon Weeden. Lombardi thought McCoy had a much higher football I...

Browns felt that Chip Kelly was too big of a gamble

Cleveland Browns CEO Joe Banner didn’t feel comfortable enough to go ahead and offer Chip Kelly the head coaching position. Banner felt Kelly was a risk to change his mind and throw off the Browns search, as he had done to Tampa Bay a year earlier. Combined with the fact Kelly had never coached in the NFL, and his unconventional offense, there were too many question marks. ...

Listen Up You Weeden Lovers, The Browns Are Not Handing Him The Keys To The Offense,He’ll Have To Earn It.

Multiple sources are reporting that the Browns former first round draft pick Brandon Weeden won’t be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns if he can’t earn the spot in the next training camp. Browns new head coach Rob Chudzinski came out and said it would be premature to name Weeden as the Browns starter, it is obvious that Chud won’t make the same mistakes former...

Browns questions abound

Now that the Super Bowl is set and the Browns hires are pretty much all set, there’s nothing left but to wonder about a lot of things. No, not silly already decided things about keeping a certain owner out of the Hall of Fame. That’s been decided a long time ago and as far as I can tell nothing at all (at all) has changed despite death and patches. Other than the obvious though...

Rob Chudzinski won’t commit to Brandon Weeden as his starter

Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski isn’t ready to name Brandon Weeden as his starter heading into next season.  He believes it’s a little premature to make that kind of decision. Chudzinski may not make Weeden his starter.  Don’t forget he didn’t draft him, the previous regime did.  So he doesn’t have any loyalty to him.  I’m not sure who else they would start...

Norv Turner will call the plays for the Cleveland Browns

According to new Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski, Norv Turner will be calling the plays as offensive coordinator for the team. Chudzinski said, “Norv’s been one of the best playcallers in the league for a long time,” when asked about the decision. Chud went on to say that he needs to recognize the abilities of the coaches around him and he feels confident that Turner...

Art Modell has no Hall of Fame credentials

When we discuss Art Modell’s unworthiness for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame here, the conversation tends to focus mainly on Modell’s lack of excuse for what he did in stealing the Browns away to Baltimore as a disqualifying factor. But today, thanks to a post by @jimkanicki at the world’s hottest new website about Cleveland, Browns and things, it’s as clear...

Chudzinski: Too soon to name the starting QB

BEREA, Ohio The new Cleveland Browns coach and offensive coordinator both had several chances Wednesday to say that Brandon Weeden would be their guy at quarterback next season. They didnt. That cant give him a lot of confidence heading into the spring, especially when coach Rob Chudzinski said it would be premature to say right now that Weeden is the teams starter. Chudzinski then...

Cleveland Frowns Super Bowl Party at Map Room sponsored by Jim Beam, and Cheddar Bay Biscuits

This year, we’re bringing some symmetry to the Frowns social calendar with a Super Bowl party at Gillespies’ Map Room on East 9th Street just north of St. Clair. Of course, it probably won’t be as exciting as our annual NFL draft party because there’s only one Super Bowl for Browns fans. But it should still be a lot of fun: A place for you to meet and/or congregate with other...

Browns Not Committed To QB Brandon Weeden?

According to Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski, it would be “premature” to assume that they are committed to Brandon Weeden being their starting next season, per Mary Kay Cabot. “I think it’s premature to say that,” said Chudzinski. Earlier indications would suggest that the new regime is not very high Weeden in general. Michael Lombardi has been brought in as their VP...

Browns not ready to commit to Weeden yet

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- New Browns coach Rob Chudzinski says it's "premature" to name Brandon Weeden his starting quarterback for next season. At a news conference to introduce offensive coordinator Norv Turner, Chudzinski would not commit to Weeden, who had an uneven rookie season. Turner would not provide an evaluation of Weeden, but did say the QB possesses "the...

#ArtOut

This, on Art Modell’s status as a finalist for the next round of NFL Hall of Fame voting to take place Super Bowl weekend, might be the best column that NFL Hall of Fame selector and legendary local Cleveland Browns beat writer Tony Grossi has ever written. Here’s the upshot: Many of Modell’s supporters have since said it’s time for Cleveland to “forgive and forget.”...

Browns: Premature to name Weeden QB for 2013

Brandon Weeden is not getting a lot of support from his coaching staff or general manager. The 2012 first-round pick is not assured of starting for the team next season. Mike Lombardi, the newly hired VP of Player Personnel, was critical of the Browns drafting Weeden in 2012 calling it a “panicked disaster.” Coach Rob Chudzinski is not ready to commit to starting Weeden in 2013...

Eagles to reportedly hire Shurmur

Former Browns coach Pat Shurmur is joining Chip Kelly's staff with the Philadelphia Eagles, a person familiar with the hiring told The Associated Press Monday. Shurmur is expected to be Philadelphia's offensive coordinator, according to the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the Eagles haven't announced any coaching moves. Shurmur went 9-23 in two seasons...

The more things stay the same

The following is a guest post by the excellent Dave Kolonich of Cleveland Reboot and the Orange and Brown Report. ————— For those of you not familiar with my site, Cleveland Reboot is something of a niche blog that goes unnoticed by many Browns fans. Although a goal of this creative endeavor is to engage an audience, I’ve learned over the years that with a larger readership...
