Found May 04, 2012 on Cleveland Browns Report: Yardbarker Blogger Network
The Cleveland Browns took a chance on WR Greg Little in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft, despite missing the entire previous year at North Carolina. So what I'm saying is, Greg Little hadn't played a game-time snap in over a year before taking the field in a preseason game against the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. Last year for the Browns, Little had a team leading 61 receptions for 709 YDS and 2 TDs with an average of 11.6 YDS/REC.   Not a bad rookie year if you ask me. Now I'm not dismissing the fact that Little also led the team in drops last year...

A Dan Coughlin guest post: Browns Still Hunting for a QB

It is our pleasure to introduce a guest post today by Cleveland’s own Dan Coughlin. Enjoy! I fell in love with Brandon Weeden late last season when I saw him against Baylor and later in the bowl game against Stanford. I wasn’t overly enamored with Stanford’s Andrew Luck. Everyone in the world was raving about Luck, but I preferred Baylor’s Robert Griffin III and Weeden, the...

What's in a name Cleveland Browns fans

What’s in a name? I’m sure all of you can remember your days in school. Whether it was elementary, middle or high school some poor unfortunate soul was blessed with an unfortunate name. And as children (who can be cruel) love the names they can use as weapons out on the playground. I’m very familiar with this myself having to endure the last name “Youngman”. I once...

Was Billy Winn a steal in the sixth round?

Now depending which mock draft you looked at, you can argue whether the Cleveland Browns got Billy Winn at a steal Saturday.  Many different mock drafts and experts I talked to said…get the rest of this great blog here at dawgpound2dawgpound.com

Cleveland Browns third-day Draft analysis. Part V

A total of 253 players were selected in the 2012 NFL Draft. And just like life everyone plays their part. Some college players shine brightly. They are in the right place, at the right time. Surely there is a lot of hard work that goes into becoming a top draft choice but when you have an opportunity to play on a larger stage it tends to help you get noticed. And some of those players...

Brandon Weeden is America, and you can too.

Your Ricky Stanzi America Love It Or Leave It Moment of the Day. (Wherein SWRT celebrates the spirit of America personified in former Iowa quarterback and uber-patriot Ricky Stanzi.)  Former Oklahoma State (and newly drafted Cleveland Browns) quarterback Brandon Weeden loves America. And what better way to celebrate it than with an American flag tank top with matching...

Getting to know your new Cleveland Browns: Brad Smelley

With this edition of “Getting to Know,” we turn to Chris Brown of Smart Football fame. Chris covers football at all levels — history, philosophy, Xs and Os — and was the author of several poignant Alabama-related pieces over at Grantland. Today, we are pleased to provide his take on the Browns’ seventh-round pick, Brad Smelley. How would you characterize Brad’s college...

Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs Enters Not Guilty Plea On Charge Of Going 103 Mph

Browns ace kick and punt returner Joshua J. Cribbs pleaded not guilty to a speeding ticket Friday afternoon in Cleveland Municipal Court according to Pat Galbincea of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Cribbs, 28, of North Royalton was ticketed by Cuyahoga County sheriffs at 8:45 p.m. April 20 for driving his 2010 Bentley 103 mph in a 60 mph zone northbound on Interstate 71 near Fulton...

Colt McCoy’s time in Cleveland could come to an end due to father’s comments

Colt McCoy started 13 games in 2011, his second NFL season. The Browns were 4-9 in those games and McCoy completed 57% of his passes for 2,733 yards with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He suffered a concussion on this play against the Pittsburgh Steelers and would miss the final 3 games.   [...]

Brad McCoy’s comments reportedly contributed to Colt’s downfall in Cleveland

By selecting former Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden in the first round of last week’s draft, the Browns appear ready to move on from whatever you want to call Colt McCoy‘s time as the Browns’ QB1 (experiment, era or maybe, simply, “ehh”). And it appears McCoy’s father, Brad McCoy, may have played a part in his son’s demise. After Colt suffered a concussion...

Cleveland Browns third-day Draft analysis. Part IV Emmanuel Achu & Billy Winn

The 6th round is a round in which many teams will gamble. It’s a round in which you can take a risk on a player without it costing you a lot. The best known example of this is New England’s own Tom Brady who was selected 199th overall in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL Draft. Clearly that selection worked out for the Patriots, but obviously not all players selected in the 6th round...

Browns QB Colt McCoy's Father's Comments Sealed His Fate With The Team

Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland reports that Colt McCoy’s fate as a former Browns starter was sealed when his father sounded off about the club’s handling of his concussion in the Pittsburgh game on Dec. 8. I was told at the time that Brad McCoy’s comments meant the end of McCoy in Cleveland, but I didn’t believe it then. The comments did not drive the pursuit of a new quarterback...

Did Colt McCoy’s dad cost him his job?

Since the topic of fathers protecting their sons is becoming a hot top issue lately, we can turn our attention to Cleveland Browns QB Colt McCoy, or more appropriately, this father Brad.   If you remember back in December, Colt suffered what looked to be concussion in a game against the Steelers following a helmet-to-helmet [...]

While We’re Waiting… Seau remembered, Cavalier odds and Browns lend a hand

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. The NFL mourns the loss of another star- “For years at a time, Seau was the only thing about the Chargers worth looking at. He was there in ’90 and ’91, when the Chargers...

AFC North draft grades

Cleveland Browns: C I've said multiple times throughout this week that I just don't like the Browns first two picks, but if you missed it, I'll restate my argument. Trent Richardson is solid, but he wasn't worth a top 5 pick, and taking a quarterback is not what the Browns needed. They need someone to come in and help Colt McCoy succeed, not somebody to come in and...
