Browns starting fullback Owen Marecic is among Cleveland's notable inactives against the San Diego Chargers.
Marecic, who has dropped four short passes this season, is healthy but will not dress Sunday as the Browns (1-6) try to win their second straight home game. Cleveland will also be missing injured defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin (lower leg), wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring) and cornerback Dimitri Patterson (ankle). Massaquoi has missed five straight games with the lingering injury.
Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson will play despite being limited all week in practice with a rib cartilage injury. Richardson gained just 8 yards last week against Indianapolis before he was benched by coach Pat Shurmur.
Slot receiver/return specialist Eddie Royal will not play for the Chargers (3-3) because of a hamstring injury.

With the departure of Holmgren as the Browns failed team president it would be nice to know what advice he has for head coach Pat Shurmur. The words that should be coming out of Holmgren’s mouth would be telling Shumur the charade is coming to an end. People that know your reputation have taken control of the team and I can no longer cover up your lack of head coaching experience...
44% of Browns fans predicted a home victory in the rain for the Browns over the Chargers. Well, most Browns fans probably didn’t predict the rain so much. After the scores were averaged, Browns fans predicted that the Browns would lose 25-22. The spread is alright, but nobody seemed to know just how badly the weather would derail both offenses. So, how about the rest?
CLEVELAND -- At long last, after decades of study and research, an existential question can be answered:
Can a team punt nine times in a row and still win?
More to the point, can a team score in the first quarter, punt nine times the rest of the game and win?
The answer, of course, is yes.
Because the Browns did just that Sunday in beating San Diego 7-6 on a blustery, rainy day in...
It wasn’t pretty. The elements played a huge role. There’s more than enough things to key in on that need significant work. But, here we are, for the second time in three weeks talking about a Cleveland Browns win. The Browns leaned heavily on Trent Richardson for 24 carries, and he rewarded them 122 yards and the game’s only touchdown. The defense stepped out and used the...
The Browns won in decidedly ugly fashion in decidedly ugly conditions on Sunday, but that didn’t seem to bother Pat Shurmur or Brandon Weeden in their post-game press conferences. Apparently it didn’t bother new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam either, as Daryl Ruiter reports. “It was a great win. We played hard, made a great play [...]
Browns running back Trent Richardson shook off bruised ribs to post 122 rushing yards and a touchdown on 24 carries in sloppy conditions Sunday versus San Diego.Fantasy Spin:Richardson only had eight carries a week ago as Browns coach Pat Shurmur didn't like what he saw from the rookie. Shurmur contemplated shutting down Richardson until after the team's bye week but that...
CLEVELAND -- The Browns drafted Trent Richardson to have days like these, when he is the offense, and it's still enough for Cleveland to cash in a victory. Richardson had his best rushing game of the season Sunday and scored the only touchdown of the game to carry the Browns past the Chargers, 7-6, on a dreary rain-soaked afternoon. The reeling Chargers, 3-4, have lost three...
Cleveland Browns runningback Trent Richardson has been having a stellar rookie year so far, and he has had a few magical touchdown runs already this year. This one was huge as it was the only touchdown scored in their game with the San Diego Chargers, and it was a true team effort, with his offensive lineman keeping him upright and helping him get to the end zone.Via: Big Lead Sports
It wasn’t the most magnificent work of art, but it was a Cleveland Browns win. Trent Richardson’s first quarter touchdown held up as the Browns defense was able to hold Phillip Rivers and company in check. The Browns stopped the Chargers from getting into field goal range on the final drive to eek out a 7-6 win. Richardson ran for 122 yards and the lone score, while both quarterbacks...
Browns coach Pat Shurmur says there ''are no ugly'' victories and senses more growth in his young team.
Playing in atrocious weather conditions, the Browns did just enough to beat the San Diego Chargers 7-6 on Sunday for their second straight home win. Shurmur was pleased with how his team handled the wind, rain and cold.
Shurmur acknowledged that ''it wasn...
Rookie Trent Richardson rushed for 122 yards and scored a touchdown, leading the Cleveland Browns to a soggy, wind-whipped 7-6 win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
Richardson, pulled last week at Indianapolis when he was ineffective because of a rib injury, carried 24 times as the Browns (2-6) won their second straight game at home - and first for new owner Jimmy Haslam. Richardson...
Your lone necessary highlight from yesterday
We all know yesterday’s game was kind of boring as far as NFL football games go. Maybe it was the weather, but regardless, there was basically a lone highlight in the game as the Browns punted nine straight times during the 7-6 victory over the Chargers. Even still, I was riding my exercise bike this morning on a pretty nasty, wet day...
