The Browns are approaching tomorrow’s game in San Francisco against the 49ers as a business trip. In the spirit of that, they are emphasizing the handshake in celebration of a big play, and growing mustaches to maintain their focus both on and off the football field. As you can see from the picture above, it is definitely working so far. Count me as a person who is extremely intimidated by all five of these football playing gentleman, especially Tony Pashos in the middle. I feel like apologizing to him for no reason just to be safe. From left to right in the picture above, if you didn’t recognize them in their facial hair, you have Cleveland Browns LB D’Qwell Jackson, OT Joe Thomas, OT Tony Pashos, LB Chris Gocong and LB Scott Fujita. Fujita is apparently the organizer of the mustache thing, or at least appears to be based on his tweet yesterday. Vegas currently has the Browns getting between 9 and 9.5 points tomorrow against the Niners, and I haven’t...

Browns Building a Dominating Defense in Cleveland

The modern Cleveland Browns have never been known for their defense. Typically a bottom feeder in the defensive rankings (and occasionally a mid-ranked defense at best), the 2011 Browns find themselves in some unfamiliar territory.Going into Week 8 of the season, the Browns boast the fourth-best defense in the NFL. Strangely enough, the entire AFC North occupies the top-four spots...

Brooks gets lip

So what do you get when you run face first into a tackle without a helmet. For linebacker Ahmad Brooks, the resulting split lip means no going out after the game, no television interviews and maybe no kisses from his girl friend. Brooks, on the second play of the game against the Browns, beat...

Week 8 Another Golden Opportunity For 49ers To Extend Lead In NFC West

At 5-1 the 49ers  come into week 8 with a commanding 3 game lead in the NFC West. Week 8 presents another opportunity for the team to separate themselves even further from the pack. While the 49ers  had one of the hardest schedules in the NFL early in the season they managed to get through at 5-1 suffering only 1 close loss to the Dallas Cowboys week 2. The rest of the way the...

Bad season for 49ers to be playing AFC North?

The 49ers’ 27th-ranked offense is up against another bruising defense from the AFC North this week, and that’s something San Francisco will have to get accustomed to this season. The Niners face a similar challenge in each of their four games this year against that division, which currently fields the four top-ranked defenses in the NFL, and they didn’t fare so well in their...

49ers notes: Players not complacent, Harbaugh says

SANTA CLARA – Jim Harbaugh sounded confident that complacency had not set in during his team's bye week. Harbaugh on Friday cited strong practices – and a few pre-dawn sightings – as evidence his 49ers players haven't gone soft.

Open Thread: Browns vs. 49ers

The Browns are wearing mustaches, approaching today’s game as a business trip, and fresh off a three point win at home over the Seattle Seahawks heading into today’s tilt with the 49ers.  Even with all those things pointing to an inevitable Browns win today though, they still most certainly have their hands full.  Frank Gore is a load, and Jim Harbaugh has these Niners...

Gore leads surging 49ers to win against Cleveland

SAN FRANCISCO -- Frank Gore received regular calls and encouragement from Roger Craig all offseason as he recovered from a fractured hip. Craig shared training tips, too. When Gore charged up the middle with his signature burst for a 2-yard gain Sunday, he took another step forward in franchise history by moving past Craig into second place on the 49ers career rushing list.
