Browns Linked To Tennessee QB Joe Milton
Caitie McMekin/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK

Could the Cleveland Browns draft a quarterback for the second consecutive season? It appears that could be the case as they will be meeting with Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton. Milton stated that a meeting is scheduled to take place during his pro day.

It would be an interesting decision if the Browns were to select Milton in the upcoming draft. Cleveland has Deshaun Watson as their presumptive starter for the foreseeable future. Backing up Watson is Jameis Winston, who is only really a break-in-case-of-emergency option, much like Joe Flacco was last season. Meanwhile, it is the presence of Dorian Thompson-Robinson, as mentioned above, that makes this a little more interesting.

Thompson-Robinson was a fifth-round pick by the Browns last year, and if there is one thing that this current regime does not like to do is cast players aside that they brought in. Even though Thompson-Robinson did see the field last year and looked every bit of a fifth-round rookie, this organization has shown time and time again that they will double and triple down on players they believe in.

Cleveland’s quarterback room is pretty full at the moment with Watson, Winston, and Thompson-Robinson. Unless the Browns are truly out on Thompson-Robinson, bringing Milton into the organization at this time really does not make sense. This would be a move that is out of their character based on previous organizational decisions. Again, nothing is set in stone and things can change. However, it does not seem highly likely that Milton will end up in Cleveland at this time.
