While ranking offensive linemen can be a daunting task, there’s no doubt that Browns left tackle Joe Thomas ranks — at least — among the top two at his position. Cleveland apparently agrees, and has forked over quite the payday as a result.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns reached an agreement with Thomas on a seven-year, $84 million extension.
The deal includes a whopping $44 million in guarantees, an unprecedented amount for an O-lineman.
At $12 million per year, Thomas will be making near-franchise quarterback money. But, as in most cases of mammoth contracts, his play definitely warrants the hefty payday.
