One day after his offense produced just six points, Browns coach Pat Shurmur was careful not to criticize Colt McCoy.
Cleveland's quarterback is taking enough hits.
McCoy was sacked five times in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Seattle Seahawks, who also got some shots in on him when he took off and ran from pressure. Shurmur doesn't believe McCoy has taken an inordinate number of hits and believes his young QB has done a nice job of avoiding sacks. Shurmur said McCoy is continuing to improve, but that it's difficult to assess his progress because of a limited offseason caused by the NFL lockout.
Shurmur would like to see McCoy make more completions. Against the Seahawks, he was 20 of 35 and has completed 56 percent of his passes this season.
