Browns QB Deshaun Watson confident he'll 'be ready Week 1'

QB Deshaun Watson's first two years with the Browns have been quite underwhelming after missing the majority of the past two seasons due to suspension and injuries.

Last year, a shoulder injury ended his 2023 season in Week 10. Watson remains in the rehab process, and while it's unclear when he'll be able to return to on-field work, he is still confident he'll be good to go when it counts in September.

"Shoulder is great," Watson said via Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan. "I'm gonna be ready Week 1 for sure."

That's great news for Cleveland, which traded a king's ransom, including three first-round picks, for the 28-year-old just two years ago. The team is still waiting on the five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract it gave him to pay off.

Since joining the Browns, Watson has thrown for just 2,217 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 12 games.

There seemed to be excuses for Watson's subpar play the last two seasons, but that will no longer be the case if he enters the 2024 season fully healthy.

Cleveland has done its best to surround him with a ton of talent to help him be successful. The team traded for WR Jerry Jeudy this offseason to pair with wide receivers Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore and tight end David Njoku in Watson's arsenal of weapons.

However, for now, Watson is solely focused on finally putting together a full season and returning to his 2020 form when he led the NFL passing yards (4,823).

"I'm very confident in the roles of the doctors...following their lead and just all the research that I've done," Watson added. "And then just my work and preparation. I've put my whole life into this, and I want to make sure I come back even better than before."
