Browns QB Deshaun Watson shares update on season-ending injury

In 2022, the Browns went all in on QB Deshaun Watson, trading a king's ransom, which included three first-round picks, and handing him a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract.

It can be argued that Cleveland has not had a quarterback since the deal with Houston, as Watson has played in just 12 games in the past two years due to suspension and injury.

The 28-year-old's 2023 season ended when he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 10. He has since undergone surgery and remains in the rehab process in which he has recently given an update on his progress.

"The situation is good," Watson said on his "QB Unplugged" podcast. "We're in a great spot, right where we need to be. We have plenty of time to ramp up the throwing sessions and things like that, but everything is going pretty smooth."

That's great news for the Browns, who hope he can finally put together a full season in his third year with the team.

There seem to have been excuses for Watson's underwhelming play (14 touchdowns, nine interceptions) the last two years, but as long as he is fully healthy by the start of the 2024 season, there will be none left to give.

Cleveland has also done its best to surround him with a ton of talent to help him be successful. The team traded for WR Jerry Jeudy this offseason to pair with wide receivers Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore and tight end David Njoku in his arsenal of weapons.

Until Watson is fully cleared and can return to throwing, fans have a right to be nervous. He has not lived up to expectations thus far, but for now, he's only focused on returning to full health.

"As long as I'm feeling well and the doctors and [physical therapists] and everyone are on the same page, we're in a good spot," Watson finished.
