For one day, Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden returned to his baseball roots. Weeden, a former minor league pitcher in the New York Yankees' organization, threw out the ceremonial first pitch Wednesday night before the Indians faced the Cincinnati Reds in the finale of a three-game series. Sitting in Cleveland's dugout before the game, Weeden said he hadn't thrown a baseball in four years. He was anxious to get in a few warmups before taking the mound. His pitch wasn't on target, high and off the plate. Weeden and the Browns' other rookies were on the field for batting practice before watching the game from a suite. Earlier in the day, the group toured the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Browns open training camp next month.

Browns Fans Ask Yourselves one Question, Is Brandon Weeden Really The Answer?

We all know the Cleveland Browns drafted Brandon Weeden in the first round of the NFL draft. What we don’t know is, will Weeden perform at a level in the NFL to produce a winner in Cleveland? Brandon Weeden is a tough guy, he can deal with pain and play through it. Weeden played an entire season in College with a ruptured tendon in his right (throwing) thumb. Weeden showed he is...

Trent Richardson responds to Brown

Jim Brown has been critical of Trent Richardson's abilities since he was drafted, and the Browns running back has responded.

Three Reasons The Cleveland Browns Should Get Rid Of Seneca Wallace

The Cleveland Browns have a abundance of quarterbacks coming into camp this season. With drafting Brandon Weeden in the first round of the NFL draft the Cleveland fans are thinking Weeden could move into the starting role. With that being said it is no secret Seneca Wallace doen’t want to be the third string Q.B.. Wallace is one guy who has been vocal about not riding the bench...

Trent Richardson Laughs at Jim Brown “Situation”

I laugh at the situation. You don’t know me from spic to span. But he’s Jim Brown. He’s done a lot here and I haven’t done anything yet. I have a lot to accomplish and big shoes to fill. When it comes down to it, I have to work and make sure I make him a believer. I haven’t done anything yet. He has his own thoughts. That’s him being him. I have no problem with it...

Trent Richardson responds to Jim Brown’s criticism ‘I laugh at that situation’

Jim Brown, the greatest running back in Cleveland Browns and arguably NFL history, has expressed on two occasions that he does not think highly of Trent Richardson, who was drafted third overall by the team in April. Richardson finally responded to Brown’s criticism. “He has his own thoughts. That’s him being him,” Richardson said earlier this month, according to ESPN...

ESPN: Improved 2012 Browns are still a 4-win team

Vegas isn’t very impressed with the Browns, and now ESPN’s John Clayton is echoing the sentiments. Clayton doesn’t doubt that Weeden, Richardson and Mitch Schwartz will come in and start. He also recognizes the addition of Brad Childress to the coaching staff. In the end, it isn’t enough for the Browns to make what Mike Holmgren refers to as a “big jump” in the record...

Richardson sparring with Jim Brown

Jim Brown has never been shy about giving his opinion, and he most certainly hasn't been shy about voicing his reservations with the Browns' 2012 first round pick, Trent Richardson. Richardson isn't one to back down either, telling ESPN's Jamison Hensley, "He has his own thoughts. That’s him being him,” Richardson said. “I have no problem with it. I just...

Trent Richardson Shrugs Off Criticism From Jim Brown, Plans to 'Make Him a Believer'

Admittedly, most running backs pale in comparison to the legendary Jim Brown, a fact that is assumedly not lost on the man himself. But he has seemingly gone out of his way to criticize Trent Richardson, the Browns' fourth overall pick this year, all throughout the offseason. Richardson, however, has decided to take the high road and just laugh the criticisms off, according to...

I Love Being Right

A month ago, I was scorched by a burning river of Browns fans for saying that Greg Little disappointed and Colt McCoy had no weapons. The insults and expletives grunted into cyberspace by these Dawg-crazed nuts barked that the blame for the team’s meager passing game rested squarely and solely on Colt McCoy. He (called “hot dumpster water” by one fan) was the team’s only...

While We’re Waiting… New rivalry, Fujita not convinced and trading Colt?

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. “The early elements of a rivalry are there: the geography, the market-based struggles of underdogs and the head-t0-head record 3 . The only ingredient missing from this...

Browns quarterback Colt McCoy sings song with Brad Paisley (Video)

Previously on Outside the Boxscore, we featured a clip of country singer Brad Paisley singing with Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. Well, Paisley got another famous quarterback to sing with him in Browns QB Colt McCoy during a concert at the Blossom Music Festival over the weekend and below is the spoils of that performance:

Stewart wins suit, earns NFL pension

Andrew Stewart earned a rare victory against the NFL pension plan this week as a federal judge ruled officials "abused their discretion" in denying the Cleveland Browns defensive lineman disability benefits. US District Court Judge William Quarles Jr. ordered Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan -- a benefit run jointly by the NFL and NFL Players Association...
