Browns set to visit with offensive tackle prospect that has his stock rising ahead of NFL Draft
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns are a team that often uses the NFL Draft to invest in the trenches and that looks like something that will continue this go around.

The Browns are set to visit with a mammoth of an offensive tackle that is being talked about more and more lately. University of British Columbia Giovanni Manu is a 6-foot-8, 352-pound left tackle that they will talk with this week, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Manu has already visited with the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. Additionally, the large offensive tackle will meet with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Cincinnati Bengals this week.

Last draft cycle, the Browns selected Dawand Jones, who looks like a staple at one of the tackle spots for the future. Jones is a 6-foot-8, 350-pound beast himself.

At his size, Manu is athletic and that is often what the Browns covet from their tackles. Manu ran a 4.96 40-yard dash and jumped 33.5 in the vertical at his Pro Day, both numbers are terrific for his size. Cleveland likes their tackles to be able to get out and block at the second level with their running game following them.

Due to the competition he’s played against and overall feeling that he is a bit under-scouted, Manu is not going to go early in the NFL Draft. This presents an opportunity for a team to potentially find a steal later in the draft that is worthwhile.
