Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his preseason debut Friday night against the Carolina Panthers and made some spectacular throws to get his team on the board.
On the first play of the second quarter, Sanders, the son of NFL legend and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, somehow found WR Kaden Davis in traffic for his first preseason TD to tie the game at seven.

That came two plays after Panthers RB Trevor Etienne muffed a punt and gifted the Browns excellent field position at the 10-yard line.

It was not a smooth start for Shedeur Sanders, who threw an incomplete pass to begin the game and faced an early three-and-out on the opening possession. His second possession was much of the same, ultimately turning the ball over on downs after throwing another incomplete pass on fourth down.
Shedeur Sanders was listed as Cleveland's fourth QB on the depth chart earlier in the week, behind veteran Joe Flacco, offseason trade acquisition Kenny Pickett and third-round draft pick Dillon Gabriel. With Pickett and Gabriel each suffering left hamstring injuries during training camp, Shedeur Sanders was elevated to QB1 for Friday's preseason opener.
He sure seemed to take advantage of the opportunity on Friday, once again finding Davis for a TD to give the Browns the 14-7 lead going into the break.

Shedeur Sanders completed 11 of his 18 passes for 103 yards and two TDs in the first half. He also tacked on 19 rushing yards.
Preseason or not, that is a solid half of football. It is still to be determined how Shedeur Sanders will slot into the Browns' QB roster as the regular season approaches.
At least in one half of preseason action, Shedeur Sanders offered some glimpses of his accuracy and playmaking ability, which is what you want to see this early in the preseason.
