I’m not sure how, exactly, this happens… but the Browns took the field in Berea this morning for the first practice of the 2011 season – with two key starters hobbled.  Eric Steinbach took the field with his knee wrapped and starts the year on the non-football injury/active list.  In addition to Steinbach, wide receiver Mohammed Massaquoi took the field in a walking boot on his left foot – it appeared to be a soft cast to those media in attendance (picture of MoMass in cast from Tony Grossi).  This was an unexpected injury and took everyone in the media by surprise.  Massaquoi did participate in the last Camp Colt just a couple weeks ago in Austin and was reportedly in good shape.  Head Coach Pat Shurmur should have an explanation of MoMass’s injury later today when practice concludes.
