Despite that the Browns 24-10 loss to the Ravens in Cleveland earlier this season was a lot worse than the final score would indicate, the sharps are all over the Browns and the points this week, having bet the line down from 14 to 11, with most of the public still on the Ravens. This must have at least something to do with an undervalued (if not terribly misunderstood) difference between Seneca Wallace and Colt McCoy. Which isn’t at all to say that Seneca is anything great, but it’s still a difference we’d be glad to buy into if we weren’t otherwise so scarred by “Seasons Beatings” headlines and everything else that happened the last time the Browns played a hated division rival on Christmas Eve (as well as everything that almost always happens when the Browns play hated division rivals in December).

So we’ll be safe and lay the points again. Ravens -11 over Browns (5 units).

Four more picks today, only home teams on Christmas Eve:

Lions -1.5 over Chargers (20 units) is our favorite play of the day. A really tough spot for the Chargers on the road against a Lions team that can make up for a Thanksgiving flop by clinching a playoff berth in front of the home crowd on Christmas Eve. The Chargers pass defense is bad. Detroit is getting healthier. The holiday should be good for America’s most charitable athlete.

Giants over Jets (10 units): Eli Manning is on the “most charitable” list, too, but regardless, this is as big a Giants/Jets game as there’s ever been. The Giants just can’t lose this one.

Redskins -7 over Vikings (7 units): Don’t miss the chance to dazzle your family and friends this holiday season by laying seven points with the Redskins and winning. The Vikings, already playing without a secondary, will be missing one of their best offensive linemen today in Steve Hutchinson as well.

Cowboys PICK over Eagles (8 units): Add three more units if the Giants win. Can’t back this Eagles team on the road with everyone expecting them to win.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas.

We’re 42-24-2 (+103 units) picking NFL against the spread here so far in 2011 (1 unit = 1 percent of your bankroll for the season).
