The Cleveland Browns want quarterback Brandon Weeden to start taking on a larger role in leading the team. The second year signal caller will battle veteran Jason Campbell for the starters job and leadership will play a big part of who will be the opening day quarterback. Weeden has embraced the challenge, but he will have to earn the respect of the new Cleveland brass. "The Browns have made it clear this off-season that they want Weeden to take more of a leadership role, and he's accepted the challenge. In a 2011 column by Mike Lombardi on NFL.com, he wrote, "No quarterback is going to be successful unless he can win over his teammates, outwork everyone and be the instrument that drives the team. This cannot be taught. ... A star QB must ... be viewed as the hardest worker and most prepared, otherwise he will be seen as a phony and never be able to lead other players. This is essential, and all great quarterbacks have this trait." "Lombardi will expect no less from Weeden," via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plains Dealer.
