Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden knows he needs to get a grip.
Weeden has already fumbled three times during the exhibition season, losing the ball twice and costing Cleveland points with his turnovers. In Friday's 27-10 loss to Philadelphia, Weeden fumbled twice in the first quarter. The first one wasn't his fault as his protection broke down on a botched screen pass. Weeden acknowledged the second fumble, which was recovered by the Browns, was because he didn't secure the ball while in the pocket.
Weeden rarely fumbled at Oklahoma State, where he typically lined up in the shotgun formation and was rarely under much pressure from a pass rush. Weeden said he needs to have a ''death grip'' on the ball to avoid turnovers.

Weeden: I still need more time to get comfortable
I still need time to get comfortable with the speed of the game. I need to better understand when to step up in the pocket and, if I feel pressure, when I step up then to have good ball security and not give in to the defense. I showed some areas tonight in which I need to improve upon, and fortunately, it is still the preseason and I have to do that.

Its Taken Me 3 Preseason Games To Understand Why The Browns Drafted Brandon Weeden But I Got It Now

Browns News: Trent Richardson Still Not At Practice; Weeden to Sit Out Game
The twitter brigade in Berea kept us informed today that rookie RB Trent Richardson was not on the practice field again, and that QB Brandon Weeden isn’t expected to play at all on Thursday.
Still no Trent Richardson for #Browns. Expected him on field by this point this week. I’m sure we’ll get the usual “he’s making progress.”

2-0 Preseason Start Has Browns Fans Dreaming Big: Is 3rd Place in AFC North Really Possible?
