Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s star cornerback Darrelle Revis has been fully cleared by team doctors for his return to the field according to NFL.com’s Andrea Kremer (see nfl.com's article here). Though Revis will not be taking part in the Bucs conditioning test for precautionary reasons, he will slowly be eased into action with individual drills this week. Tampa Bay coaches are hoping to see him participate in 7 on 7 drills soon as well.
Revis was acquired by the Bucs in a blockbuster trade with the NY Jets this offseason. His health is paramount to Buccaneer team management and coaches. After all, he is expected to help a defense that ranked last in the league against the pass in 2012.
Despite the fact Darrelle Revis tore his ACL last season, Tampa Bay feels confident that the All-Pro will return to form and make a major impact on their secondary. Along with fellow offseason addition and pro bowl safety Dashon Goldson, Bucs fans have reason to feel optimistic about their young talented defense continuing its step in the right direction.
