Bucs coach Greg Schiano announced today that defensive lineman Jayme Mitchell had elected to leave the team, offering no explanation for the move, Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times reports, but Mitchells agent, Lamont Smith, has shed some light on his clients decision. A 13-game starter for the Browns last season, Mitchell said he didnt feel it was a good fit for him, according to Smith. He expressed some concerns about some things (on Tuesday) and I asked him to stick it out a little longer. Camp is long and hard, Smith said. But he still felt this is what he wanted to do. He spoke with his position coach, and I told him he should still have a conversation with (general manager) Mark Dominik. Well, he attempted to do that. Ill leave it at that. Pressed further, Smith said Mitchell was unhappy about his current situation with the Bucs. When signed during the offseason, Smith said the Bucs indicated he would have a chance to compete as a defensive end his preferred position. His signing was seen as an effort by the Bucs to bolster the defensive end position after Da'Quan Bowers' Achilles injury, but recently, Smith said, Mitchell was playing numerous snaps at defensive tackle and with the third team.

Bucs hope Orlovsky will push Freeman at QB
In his first seven years in the National Football League, Dan Orlovsky was often in the wrong place at the wrong time.

TAMPA, Fla. If the Tampa Bay Bucs are going to put up a good front this season, Carl Nicks is just the man to help them do it.

LaGarrette Blount listed as the Bucs starter

According to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers official depth chart, running back LaGarrette Blount has been listed as the starter over rookie Doug Martin. This can always change, but right now Blount is holding on to his starting spot.
Martin is certainly an all around better running back. It wouldn’t surprise me if he takes over as the starter midway through the regular season.
