Bucs coach Greg Schiano announced today that defensive lineman Jayme Mitchell had elected to leave the team, offering no explanation for the move, Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times reports, but Mitchells agent, Lamont Smith, has shed some light on his clients decision. A 13-game starter for the Browns last season, Mitchell said he didnt feel it was a good fit for him, according to Smith. He expressed some concerns about some things (on Tuesday) and I asked him to stick it out a little longer. Camp is long and hard, Smith said. But he still felt this is what he wanted to do. He spoke with his position coach, and I told him he should still have a conversation with (general manager) Mark Dominik. Well, he attempted to do that. Ill leave it at that. Pressed further, Smith said Mitchell was unhappy about his current situation with the Bucs. When signed during the offseason, Smith said the Bucs indicated he would have a chance to compete as a defensive end his preferred position. His signing was seen as an effort by the Bucs to bolster the defensive end position after Da'Quan Bowers' Achilles injury, but recently, Smith said, Mitchell was playing numerous snaps at defensive tackle and with the third team. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced their first depth chart of the 2012 season on Monday. The Buccaneers moved back into the first round of the NFL Draft in April in order to select RB Doug Martin. While Martin is expected to play a large role in the Tampa offense this season, third-year RB LeGarrette Blount finds himself as the team’s starting running back on the first depth chart...
Tampa Bay receiver Mike Williams was listed as a starting receiver opposite newly acquired Vincent Jackson in the Buccaneers' first depth chart release.Fantasy Spin:Offseason reports had Preston Parker challenging for the spot and that still may happen. Williams caught 65 balls for 771 yards and three scores in 2011 which was a significant drop from 2010 (65-964-11).
Cornerback Myron Lewis is as puzzled as anyone about why his career is off to a painfully slow start with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The third-year pro battled nagging injuries that made it a struggle to get on the field the past two seasons, but he's confident he's on the verge of proving the team didn't make a mistake by drafting him in the third round.
In his first seven years in the National Football League, Dan Orlovsky was often in the wrong place at the wrong time.
His 12 NFL starts have come with the 2008 Detroit Lions (0-16) and last year's Indianapolis Colts, who lost their first 13 games before Orlovsky started in a couple of December victories. Now the 28-year-old quarterback is with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who...
5. Mark Barron (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, SS)
Mark didn’t perform at the combine, but his college career does most the talking. Barron is known for his hard hits and leadership. Tampa is rolling back to their Super Bowl days creating a tenacious defense. His high motor will compliment Ronde Barber’s smarts in the secondary. Off the field concerns continue to be an issue. Schiano...
Former Minnesota Viking running back Michael Bennett has plead guilty in Florida after participating in a tax refund and identity theft scheme.
Last week, Bennett plead guilty to one count of wire fraud in Florida. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors are seeking less than the possible 20 year sentence that Bennett was facing.

According to Gil Arca of The Bay Cave, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano said that cornerback Aqib Talib was held out of practice on Monday with a hamstring “tweak.”
Schiano doesn’t believe Talib’s injury is bad and stated that they held him out “as a precaution we put him on the exercise bike.”
Hamstrings are tricky. The worst thing the Bucs can...
TAMPA, Fla. If the Tampa Bay Bucs are going to put up a good front this season, Carl Nicks is just the man to help them do it.
The All-Pro left offensive guard, regarded as one of the leagues best with the New Orleans Saints, has the goods to take a solid Bucs offensive line to the next level. The 6-5, 343-pounder was a key element in the Saints ability to pass protect for Drew...
Culver City (Calif.) wide out Julius Wilson took an unofficial visit to San Diego State last week and plans to return for an official this fall.
According to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers official depth chart, running back LaGarrette Blount has been listed as the starter over rookie Doug Martin. This can always change, but right now Blount is holding on to his starting spot.
Martin is certainly an all around better running back. It wouldn’t surprise me if he takes over as the starter midway through the regular season.
