TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made cuts to reach the 53-man roster limit, and kicker Lawrence Tynes and safety Cody Grimm were among the most notable moves. Tynes, dealing with an ingrown toenail on his right foot that became infected with MRSA, was placed on the reservenon-football injury list. As reported by FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo, the Bucs have offered to pay his one-year, 840,000 base salary. Meanwhile, Grimm, who played 23 games for the Bucs the past three seasons, was one of 21 players waived or terminated Saturday. He was arrested twice for public intoxication in the offseason. Others waived include safety Sean Baker, cornerback Deveron Carr, offensive tackle Jace Daniels, linebacker Dom DeCicco, long-snapper Andrew DePaola, kicker Derek Dimke, wide receiver David Douglas, linebacker Ka'Lial Glaud, punter Chas Henry, defensive tackle Lazarius Levingston, defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo, defensive tackle Andre Neblett, tight end Danny Noble, wide receiver Chris Owusu, offensive tackle Mike Remmers, cornerback Mason Robinson and guard Cody Wallace. Three players' contracts were terminated: guard Roger Allen, wide receiver Jordan Norwood and defensive tackle Gary Gibson, who played 16 games and had 18 tackles for the Bucs last season. The decision to pay Tynes' base salary is a smart move. His situation is unfortunate, and the outcome for the veteran kicker is unknown but appears serious. Parting ways with him without honoring his base salary would have been unwise. One other notable outcome of the cuts is that the Bucs chose to keep Peyton Hillis. Brian Leonard and Mike James were assumed to be Doug Martin's backups, but holding onto Hillis means Tampa Bay will carry four running backs. The Bucs will have plenty of depth there.
