NFL Injury Report:
As I wrote earlier today, Tampa Bay Buccaneers back-up
running back Peyton Hillis injured his knee during the third quarter of the
Buccaneers’ Thursday night preseason opener against the reigning Super Bowl
champion Baltimore Ravens. As it turns out, the football gods may have renewed Peyton
Hillis’ lease on his NFL football life.
Late Thursday night and early Friday, no one was aware of to
what extent the knee was damaged. That
all changed Friday afternoon when Dan
Hanzus of NFL.com, citing Ian Rapoport of NFL.com and other persons
informed on Hillis’ injury, reported that Hillis suffered a hyperextended left knee when
he was smashed in the knee by Ravens cornerback, Asa Jackson.
The hyperextended knee should not keep Hillis out for any length
of time. However, Hillis is looking for
a fresh start and the Buccaneers where more than happy to give it to him. Any amount of time away from the hash marks
will keep Hillis that much further from making the most of his chance with his
fourth team in six NFL seasons.

TAMPA, Fla. Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy left practice Saturday with a tweaked calf, coach Greg Schiano said. The severity is unknown.
McCoy, named to his first Pro Bowl after last season, limped off during a two-minute drill late in the workout at One Buc Place. After leaving the field, he walked along the sideline but did not return to live play.
When Doug Martin came on the scene he look the NFL by storm. The feature back is hard to find in the NFL these days but we have a new one in Tampa.
I don't usually like first or second year backs but this is a great situation in Tampa and a special player. Get use to penciling this guy in at the top of the board for the next decade.
When Josh Freeman was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he came to Florida with mixed reviews and lot of questions. The tall, rangy quarterback with the cannon arm form Kansas State was expected to eventually be the answer to the team's needs and try to be the best passer on the team since Vinny Testaverde.Yes, I went there.Freeman, who has a Pro Bowl appearance to his credit...
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have opted to waive DB Myron Lewis after failing miserably to make a positive impression on the organization after having been drafted in the third round in 2010, 67th overall. In corresponding moves, they also waived LB Marvin Booker and signed CB Mason Robinson.
Tunnel Vision: This does not come as a big shocker as he wasn’t even adequate for the Bucs...
Peyton Hillis was looking for a new lease on his football
life when he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2013 NFL season. Now it looks like that lease has expired.

TAMPA, Fla. -- "Sloppy" was an appropriate description for much of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' execution in a 44-16 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday at Raymond James Stadium.
The night meant the NFL debut of rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, and Bucs coach Greg Schiano received early looks at players competing for the No. 2 running back spot behind Doug...
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made the biggest splash this off-season, acquiring all-world cornerback Darrelle Revis from the Jets for some draft picks, and signing big-name safety Dashon Goldson to cement their secondary – an area of dire need following last year. There’s some concern as to whether Revis will be the same player following a devastating ACL injury he sustained early...
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need a better pass rush, and according to coach Greg Schiano, that means they need a better Da'Quan Bowers.
Schiano has been on his third-year defensive end - during practices and after - all summer long.
''It's certainly not anything personal. We both want the same thing,'' Schiano said Saturday. ''He wants to be an every...
The NFL is investigating the idea that perhaps fans are not happy with the current status of PreSeason football in the NFL. Also, Santa Clause is investigating if children are unhappy with lumps of coal for Christmas.
As disapointing as paying full price for a ticket only to watch starters play for 8-10 snaps, NFL and Bucs fans were elated to be listening to Gene Deckerhoff,...
There is no competition for Josh Freeman's quarterback job, at least not yet.
Rookie QB Mike Glennon made some plays in Thursday night's 44-16 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but Bucs coach Greg Schiano made it clear Friday that Freeman is his starter.
The placekicking job is another matter.
''I hope for a very, very hard decision there,'' Schiano...
Tampa Bay wideout Kevin Ogletree caught five balls for 65 yards which should help solidify his role as the No. 3 receiver behind Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams.Fantasy Spin:Ogletree was in the three receiver sets, but the Bucs don't use that formation much. Still, if either of the starters goes down, Ogletree is the guy to have ahead of Tiquan Underwood or Chris Owusu.
The defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens (0-0) travel to Raymond James Stadium to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0) in their preseason opener. Seems that way every year. The anticipation and expectation of the harvest of your top prospects abound. Then about halfway through the 2nd quarter you realize it's not so much about your 1's, but more about eliminating your dubious 2's and 3's...
