The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced that they have signed wide receiver Mike Williams to a six-year contract, worth $40.25 million. “We are pleased to have Mike signed to a long-term contract that ensures he will continue to be part of the exciting young core of players we are building around,” said Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik.  “Mike has earned this contract through his hard work and production the past three seasons and we are looking forward to seeing him continue that career development as a Buccaneer.” Williams (6-2, 212) joined the Buccaneers as a fourth-round (101st overall) selection in the 2010 NFL Draft. He has started 47-of-48 games for the Buccaneers, recording 193 receptions for 2,731 yards (14.2 avg.) and 23 touchdowns during his first three years in the league. Williams, 26, enters his fifth season as one of the most productive wide receivers of the 2010 draft class, ranking second in catches (193), yards (2,731) and touchdowns (23), behind only Dez Bryant (200-2,871-27). As a rookie, Williams burst onto the scene with an impressive campaign, starting 16 games and leading all rookie receivers in the league in receiving yards (964), receptions (65) and touchdowns (11). For his efforts, he was named to The Sporting News NFL All-Rookie Team and the PFW/PFWA All-Rookie Team, as well as finishing second in voting for AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. Most recently, in 2012, Williams finished the year recording 63 catches for 996 yards (15.8 avg.) and a team-leading nine receiving touchdowns, playing alongside then-newly acquired free agent teammate Vincent Jackson. Williams played collegiately at Syracuse University, starting 22-of-29 games and finishing his career with the Orange having recorded 2,044 yards on 133 receptions with 20 touchdowns.
