Wide receiver Mike Williams has been a trusted target for quarterback Josh Freeman and the Buccaneers since his 2010 rookie season. As he enters the final year of his rookie contract, the team is looking to keep him around a bit longer. The Bucs and WR Mike Williams have begun talking about a contract extension for the 2010 fourth-round draft pick. — Roy Cummings (@RCummingsTBO) January 29, 2013 Williams has caught over 60 passes each of his first three seasons since being drafted. He caught a career high 11 touchdowns his rookie season but followed it up with just three touchdowns in 2011. Williams bounced back last season, benefiting from Tampa Bay’s acquisition of Pro Bowl receiver Vincent Jackson. He caught 63 passes for 996 yards and nine touchdowns. His contract makes him an unrestricted free agent after 2013 if not signed. Cap hit for 2013 is $720,750 with a base salary of $575,000.
