Tampa Bay Buccaneers free safety Ronde Barber was vague when talking about retirement. Ronde Barber
Barber was asked about retirement after Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons. The soon-to-be 38-year-old has been playing on one-year deals in recent years.
“If it is (the last game), it is,” Barber said Sunday. “I’ve always been all right with that. I’ve never been shy of saying I’m proud of what I put on the field, and today was no different.”
He will be an unrestricted free agent in March. In the coming weeks, he will decide whether to come back to the Bucs or retire off into the sunset.
He is still playing at a high level, as Pro Football Focus has ranked Barber has the 11th best safety in the league. He had 91 tackles and 4 interceptions this season.
