The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may get a boost on their defensive line soon, as defensive end Da'Quan Bowers is scheduled to come off the physically unable to perform list following Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bucs would have a two-week roster exemption in order for Bowers to get back into football shape. Bowers suffered a torn Achilles in May. During the two-week roster exemption, Bowers can practice with the team. Bucs coach Greg Schiano said he wasn't sure when Bowers would be available. "He's improving, there's no doubt about that," Schiano said. "We're going to be very, very conservative and not going to rush that situation. We're going to make sure he's well. But I can tell you from the things I've seen, I'm really encouraged. When he comes back, I do anticipate him coming back here in the foreseeable future -- if that's three weeks, six weeks, eight weeks, I'm not sure right now." Th...

Sal Paolantonio with some not so kind words about the Bucs

The 2012 Bucs are undoubtedly playing better football than last season’s team. While the record was the complete opposite last year at this time, the Buccaneers are much more physical this season and are staying in games. But some in media circles are not sold yet on the Bucs and ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio seems to be one of them. During his weekly appearance on the Matt Segal Show...

Buccaneers plan to recognize the 1997 team

This Sunday’s Ring of Honor game will include more than just honoring former Bucs’ lineman Paul Gruber. During halftime of the Bucs and Chiefs, Tampa Bay plans to honor the teammates he played along side of during the 1997 season. 1997 marked the first year the team played in their pewter and red uniforms. The Bucs finished that season with a 10-6 record, lifting them into the...

Jury still out on Bucs QB Josh Freeman

TAMPA, Fla. Josh Freeman stepped to the podium at One Buc Place Thursday afternoon looking more relaxed than usual. He cracked a few jokes, smiled easily and seemed refreshed from the recent bye week for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was visible change from the more guarded and tense demeanor of the Buc quarterback who presided over an inconsistent offense in three straight losses...

Dependable Barth has made 25 straight FGs for Bucs

Connor Barth is proving his worth to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barth is also 7 for 7 on extra points through four games...

RotoWire NFL Five Things

1. Doug Martin Owners Should Hesitate to Sell His rushing average (3.5 yards per carry) has disappointed all year, and he saw his workload drop to eight carries against the Redskins prior to Tampa Bay's Week 5 bye, but those who own Doug Martin probably shouldn't move him yet. It's not just a matter of selling him low, though that certainly does apply. More important...

Though the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to a rough start, their current state still might not be as troubling as the one the Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in. With backup Brady Quinn prepared to make his first start in almost three years, the visiting Chiefs look to avoid a third consecutive loss while trying to hand the rested Buccaneers a fourth straight defeat Sunday. After...
