Found March 18, 2013 on The Bay Cave:

It appears the Bucs may be upping the ante on possible trade offers to the New York Jets. The speculation of the Buccaneers offering a second and a fourth round pick or a second this year and a potential first next season may no longer be an option.   To be clear, Bucs won’t rule out using a first round pick for Revis. No offer made, undecided at this point. Would consider it. — Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) March 19, 2013   As Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud notes above, no offer has been made. However many reports last week had “sources” saying the Buccaneers have made an offer but the Jets were not crazy about it. So what can this mean now? If the Bucs trade their first round pick with New York, it obviously does not give them the option of potentially drafting one of the higher ranked cornerbacks in April’s draft. Perhaps they are banking on two other possibilities. First, the return of Ronde Barber. Not saying it is inevitable, but he hasn’t said no. Tampa Bay continues to wait on his decision and his decision may be based on whether (if) the Bucs acquire Darrelle Revis. Maybe they asked him to be a starting corner again? Second, bringing back Eric Wright. After The Bay Cave broke the news first on Wright losing his grievance, speculation immediately rose that the team should and may release Wright. But what if they are not going to? What if they see their best option is to now bring back Eric Wright after acknowledging that their best option is restructuring him to another contract? Certainly there is lots of awkwardness between both sides so this suggestion may not even be an option. Whatever the Buccaneers are looking to do, it appears that their first round pick will be what brings “Revis Island” to Tampa Bay. General manager Mark Dominik had this to say via the Tampa Bay Times: “If we think it’s in the best interest of the team, we will do something. If that’s a player that everybody is speculating (Revis) or maybe it’s a player at a position that nobody has thought about. But certainly, these meetings are very healthy for those kinds of discussions to see if there is a way to get this team better and does that include players or draft picks or a combination? That’s what we’ll look at.’’ The post Bucs considering first round pick for Darrelle Revis appeared first on The Bay Cave.
