The Bucs made a few roster moves on Saturday ahead of their Sunday afternoon tilt against the Saints. The team announced they have elevated wide receiver Kaylon Geiger and linebacker Kenny Young from the practice squad.

Geiger joined the Bucs as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech following the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-10 receiver was consistent throughout camp and made some difficult catches in the preseason. Throughout three preseason games, the rookie receiver reeled in six passes for 54 yards. Geiger also returned three kickoffs for 68 yards.

Young filled the final spot on the Bucs’ practice squad when he signed on Sept. 5. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker has played in 59 games with 25 starts. He’s notched 195 career tackles with 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a pick-six while playing for the Ravens, Rams and Broncos.

Young figures to play mostly on special teams against the Saints, much like Genard Avery did last week in Dallas. Young has 231 career special teams snaps, but did not play on any units last season. Avery had 16 snaps on team’s units last week.

If active, this will mark Geiger’s first career NFL regular season appearance. The Bucs have already ruled wide receiver Chris Godwin out for Sunday’s contest and have several other receivers nursing injuries.

This week marks the second straight week the Bucs have used a practice squad elevation. Each team can elevate players up to three times during the regular season. In the postseason, teams do not have a limit on how many times they choose to elevate players. At the game’s conclusion, the elevated players will automatically revert to the practice squad without having to pass through waivers.
