Found October 25, 2013 on NFL Injury Report:
It appears the Tampa Bay Bucs had a timetable for the the return of running back Doug Martin, after all. After a week of adamantly denying the second year back would be done for the season, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports the Buccaneers want Martin to return in Week 10. Doug Martin will spend the next 18 days strengthening his shoulder & will wear a harness, with the target date for return Nov. 11 on MNF — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 24, 2013 NFL Media’s Alex Flanagan reported that the Bucs are still waiting on an evaluation from Dr. James Andrews that will decide if Martin can cause further damage his shoulder by playing with this type of injury. If not, the Bucs would like for him to play through the injury and have reportedly cited John Lynch as a player who has successfully played through a similar shoulder injury. This is a baffling story, coming from a winless team halfway through the season. The Bucs will all but concede next week’s game to the Seahawks and hope to get Martin back, injured and at 0-8 on Monday Night Football. At least the Bucs are doing some of the right things. They will presumably (hopefully) shut Martin down for the season if he is at risk of further damaging the shoulder or if strengthening the shoulder doesn’t improve his condition. It just seems like if there’s one player who shouldn’t be playing through a significant injury, it’s got to be a young running back on a winless team. A team that’s counting on him to further develop into a cornerstone piece of a rebuilding franchise. Holding Martin to this John Lynch standard as suggested seems flawed on so many levels. First and foremost, the amount of punishment a running back takes over the course of an NFL game is second to none. A safety like Lynch is at the advantage of initiating and controlling contact, whereas Martin will be hit every which way and defenders are even likely to aim for the inured shoulder. Give the guy a break before you break him.

Cam Newton, Steve Mariucci Freaked Out by Cannon Blast During Panthers-Buccaneers Game (Video)

Cam Newton learned the hard way Thursday night that even near the end of a blowout win, you have to keep your head on a swivel.
