The Buccaneers are looking to continue their offensive success from the past four weeks. Rookie running back Doug Martin rushed for 386 yards and five touchdowns on the ground the past two games but may have a tougher time against San Diego on Sunday.  Keep that play action going often With Martin’s recent success the past few weeks, the Bucs should expect the Chargers to crowd the line of scrimmage to stop the run. San Diego has an aggressive run defense and their ranking of fourth in the NFL against the run proves just that. Play action will keep the second level of the Chargers defense honest which could lead to bigger runs by Martin. Pull the trigger We have seen a different Josh Freeman since the bye week compared what we saw the previous four games before the bye. He has thrown for 11 touchdowns and one interception the past four weeks and has a passer rating of 111.3. The Chargers have the 18th ranked pass defense which should allow Freeman to get his passes to receivers. Possible statement game for the Bucs secondary Philip Rivers and the Chargers lost one of their top offensive threats in Vincent Jackson to Tampa Bay this past offseason. Their passing game has struggled as they are averaging 217 yards a game where the Bucs are dead last against the pass giving up 321 yards per game. Within the top four leaders in receptions for San Diego are running backs Ronnie Brown and Ryan Matthews. As broken down on Buccaneers.com, Rivers likes to check down to his backs a lot. This could be the game where the Tampa Bay corners finally hold the opposition’s passing game if they limit Rivers to checking it down.
