The Bucs head up north to face the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. Tampa Bay can not let the national spotlight get to them as running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Jared Allen have made it tough for the opposition to get a win off of them this season.  Keep Peterson from running wild Adrian Peterson ran for 153 yards and one touchdown against the Cardinals on Sunday to earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Peterson is third in the NFL for rushing yards at 652. But the Buccaneers have not had much to worry about against the run this season as they are giving up an average of 76 yards per game and 3.1 yards per carry. Protect Josh Freeman’s backside Veteran defensive end Jared Allen has accounted for six of the Vikings’ 22 sacks (third best in the NFL). Bucs’ left tackle Donald Penn will have to be on his “A” game to keep Allen out of Josh Freeman’s pocket. It won’t be all on Penn though as the Buccaneers will have to continue their protection of Freeman like they have done well all season, allowing just nine sacks thus far ranking them fifth best. Play the pass like the second half against the Saints Minnesota’s quarterback Christian Ponder is no Drew Brees, respectfully. However, you give any quarterback in the NFL time to throw the ball, they can easily pick you apart. Ponder has been able to connect on a consistent basis with wide receiver Percy Harvin. The Tampa Bay pass rush must force Ponder into making mistakes and bad throws as well as keep Harvin out of the endzone. Vikings' QB situation something to Ponder

MINNEAPOLIS The boobirds started early. It was barely three minutes into the Thursday Night Football game at the Mall of America Field, and the Minnesota Vikings the 5-2 Vikings, nipping at the heels of the Chicago Bears in the NFC North, getting plenty of votes as the NFL's biggest 2012 surprise were already stinking it up. Their offense had a quick three-and-out to start...

Donald Penn and Jared Allen get into it at the end of Tampa Bay-Minnesota Game

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen was obviously frustrated towards the end of their game on Thursday night, as being blown out 36-17 is a poor performance and reflects on the lack of defense by the Vikings.  He decided to take it out on Tampa Bay’s offensive tackle Donald Penn and they get into it a little bit.Obviously nothing overly serious or dramatic, but it’s...

Home teams own NFL Thursday nights

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings have talked this week about the challenges in the short turnaround required to play Thursday night in front of a national TV audience, taking on a second game four days after beating the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. There's the physical challenge of recovering in time to play another bruising contest. Cold tubs and treatment were even...

Minnesota Vikings: Adrian Peterson Silences His Critics

I heard a lot of chatter last season when Vikings star running back went down with an ACL injury that he would never be the same player again. After all, this was a pretty devastating injury to a guy who relies on explosion as much as he does. Having to basically have his knee completely reconstructed, some even predicted he wouldn’t even be ready to go when the 2012 season...

Adrian Peterson's Ankle Not a Concern

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson likely won't practice in this short work week with a Thursday game on the schedule, but his sore ankle won't keep him out of the game.Fantasy Spin:Peterson didn't let major knee surgery get in the way of his season so an ankle sprain isn't going to stop him. Peterson is averaging 105.5 ypg over his last four contests.

Frazier: Ponder is starting QB, barring injury

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. With quarterback Christian Ponder's confidence looking shaky, Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier reiterated his full confidence in his second-year starter on Friday. Coming off another shaky outing from Ponder (19 of 35 passing for 251 yards, one touchdown, one interception and three sacks) in Thursday's 36-17 loss at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers...

Peterson and defense equals wins for Vikings

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Leslie Frazier has held firm to his feelings of how to win in the NFL since taking over as the Minnesota Vikings head coach almost two years ago. Frazier, in many ways from the old-school line of thinking, wants to establish a strong running game and play sound defense. He's witness the trends and heard about the opinions that the NFL is now a passing league...

Frazier: Ponder's recent performance no cause for panic

Playing a game four days after the previous one has to feel good for a quarterback who performed as poorly as Christian Ponder did in the Vikings' 21-14 win over the Cardinals at Mall of America Field on Sunday. Thursday's kickoff against the visiting Buccaneers gives the second-year quarterback three fewer days to dwell on his eight completions (one in the second half...

Defensive ends call for ‘ownership’ of loss

Defensive ends Jared Allen and Brian Robison called for the Vikings to learn from the loss and not run from it, but did the Vikings get over-confident?

Tampa Bay Bucs vs. Minnesota Vikings: Three Bold Predictions

Every year is full of surprising teams, some young, some otherwise. In 2010, the Bucs were that team, going 10-6.  Since then, they are 6-16, completely failing to repeat their success.  Freeman hasn’t been the QB he was in his sophomore year, and the team is trying to rebuild after firing their head coach.Meanwhile, the Vikings were worse than the Bucs with an abysmal 3-13 record...

Fantasy Football Week 8 Preview: Buccaneers at Vikings

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Minnesota VikingsTampa Bay:  The Buccaneers come off a heartbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints, dropping them to 2-4.  They led the Saints in the first half, but then Drew Brees brought his team storming back to take the lead.  Josh Freeman showed some mettle, going toe to toe and punch for punch with Brees, only to essentially run out of time and real...

Bucs vs. Vikings: PJD's Masturbatory Game Eight Preview

Show No Mercy, Percy: Hey guys, welcome to a Thursday night, kind-of prime time game day/evening. I say kind of, because not everyone has the NFL Network, where this game is being shown on across the country. So unless you live in Minnesota or Tampa Bay (and really, who would want to live in either of those frozen poop stains or sweaty under cheese locations?!), it's not a guarantee...
