The Bucs head up north to face the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. Tampa Bay can not let the national spotlight get to them as running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Jared Allen have made it tough for the opposition to get a win off of them this season.  Keep Peterson from running wild Adrian Peterson ran for 153 yards and one touchdown against the Cardinals on Sunday to earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Peterson is third in the NFL for rushing yards at 652. But the Buccaneers have not had much to worry about against the run this season as they are giving up an average of 76 yards per game and 3.1 yards per carry. Protect Josh Freeman’s backside Veteran defensive end Jared Allen has accounted for six of the Vikings’ 22 sacks (third best in the NFL). Bucs’ left tackle Donald Penn will have to be on his “A” game to keep Allen out of Josh Freeman’s pocket. It won’t be all on Penn though as the Buccaneers will have to continue their protection of Freeman like they have done well all season, allowing just nine sacks thus far ranking them fifth best. Play the pass like the second half against the Saints Minnesota’s quarterback Christian Ponder is no Drew Brees, respectfully. However, you give any quarterback in the NFL time to throw the ball, they can easily pick you apart. Ponder has been able to connect on a consistent basis with wide receiver Percy Harvin. The Tampa Bay pass rush must force Ponder into making mistakes and bad throws as well as keep Harvin out of the endzone.
