AP Photo Buccaneers fans are surely rejoicing today after their young star running back Doug Martin has been medically cleared for the 2014 NFL season. CLEARED!!!! Excited to be back y’all!! — Doug Martin (@DougMartin22) March 31, 2014 Martin suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which resulted in the two-year Bucs back to miss ten games in 2013.  Doctors have medically cleared him, which makes Martin eligible to participate in offseason workouts beginning on April 22. Being that players aren’t allowed to wear pads until training camp, Martin should have plenty of time to strengthen his shoulder and should be the primary running back under Tampa’s new head coach Lovie Smith. Martin had a spectacular rookie campaign in 2012 with 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns, showing everyone in Tampa Bay how to ‘Dougie’.  That success in his first year as a pro landed him in the Pro Bowl that year.  That success wouldn’t follow in 2013.  Prior to the injury which sidelined Martin, he had 456 yards and one touchdown.  The entire Buccaneers squad was dysfunctional to say the least with Josh Freeman under center, and former head coach Greg Schiano calling the shots. Things in Tampa Bay should be looking up with the acquisition of quarterback Josh McCown in free agency, and an experienced head coach in Lovie Smith taking over.
