The Bucs signed a potential replacement to running back LeGarrette Blount. Per his agent Mike McCartney, Tampa Bay signed former Bengals’ running back Brian Leonard. Excited for @brian40leonard to re-join Greg Schiano on a 1 year deal with the @tbbuccaneers — Mike McCartney (@MikeMcCartney7) April 1, 2013 Leonard, 29, played for Bucs’ head coach Greg Schiano at Rutgers. There he scored 45 touchdowns, rushed for 2,775 yards, and registered 1,868 receiving yards. In 678 rushing attempts and 207 receptions, Leonard did not fumble the football. The Rutgers product was drafted in the second round of the 2007 draft by the St. Louis Rams. He would then be acquired by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009. In six NFL seasons, Leonard has rushed for 646 yards on 174 attempts and has caught 113 passes for 814 yards. The Buccaneers may not have brought him in to make an immediate impact especially with it being just a one-year deal. But Leonard can be a trusted, situational out of the backfield for Tampa Bay. Below are some You Tube highlights of his playing days in college. (This article also appears on TheBayCave.com.
