Buffalo Bills’ 2024 NFL Schedule: Release date, opponents, biggest games, and predictions
Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

With the NFL Draft in the books and free agency basically done, we know look on to the thick of the Buffalo Bills offseason.

However, it won't be long until we get excited as the 2024 schedule will be coming out very soon, potentially within the next two weeks.

Without any further ado, let's get to all that we know about the 2024 Bills schedule, including potential primetime showdowns, revenge games, key matchups, and much more!

Bills' Schedule Release Date

During the 2024 NFL Draft, the league teased the league schedule for the upcoming season will be released in May. Although no exact date was announced, expectations are for it to come out in the middle of May, as it was released on May 12 in 2022 and May 11 in 2023.

We'll update this post with the Bills' exact schedule once it becomes official.

Home and Away Opponents

Home

  • Miami Dolphins
  • New England Patriots
  • New York Jets
  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Tennessee Titans
  • Arizona Cardinals
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • Kansas City Chiefs

Away

  • Miami Dolphins
  • New England Patriots
  • New York Jets
  • Houston Texans
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Los Angeles Rams
  • Seattle Seahawks
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Detroit Lions

Biggest Games on the Bills' 2024 Schedule

  • Bills vs. Jets: Josh Allen vs. Aaron Rodgers but make it more than four plays. What else do we need to say? The Jets made some savvy moves this offseason, rebuilding the offensive line for their veteran QB. These two games should be electric.
  • Bills vs. Dolphins: The Dolphins could arguably be the biggest threat to the Bills' AFC East title aspirations as Mike McDaniel's offense is still a highly efficient one and now they added even more speed through rookie RB Jaylen Wright. Shootouts are in the horizon.
  • Bills vs. Chiefs: Perhaps a boring pick, but beating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs remains the measuring stick for the Bills, who are among the AFC's elite but not at the Chiefs' level, which could be said about 30 other teams.

Predicting Primetime Matchups and Week 1/Week 18 matchups

Last year, the Bills received six primetime games. Although I think that could be lower in 2024, this team is quarterbacked Josh Allen, so I'm listing five games as perfect primetime viewing candidates ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Which games will be primetime viewing?

Last year, the Bills got six games in Primetime and I'd expect the same to happen this time around.

Bills vs. Jets: This is my pick for Week 1 for the Bills. I think the NFL runs it back on primetime after having the Aaron Rodgers Monday Night blow up four plays into Rodgers' season. We all deserve the opportunity to make that moment right in our memories.

Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs: No one wants this game to be played at 4:25 PM ET and we know it. Give us three hours of Mahomes vs. Allen under the lights.

Bills @ Texans: I strongly believe the NFL will do its best to get C.J. Stroud as much as possible on primetime TV. The Bills make perfect sense thanks to the Stefon Diggs narrative after he was traded to Houston.

Bills @ Patriots: Somewhat of a wild guess here but Drake Maye could lead to primetime games for New England and could make even more sense early in the year to hype up the rookie.

Bills @ Ravens: Lamar Jackson, a two-time MVP, versus Josh Allen would be must-watch TV.

Additionally, it feels like a Week 18 game versus the New England Patriots makes the most sense, by the way.

Strength of Schedule (based off Vegas win totals, not 2023 record)

Based on Warren Sharp's Strength of Schedule rankings (pre-draft), the Bills' schedule is 23rd in the NFL (32nd being the toughest). That's a big difference compared to the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins, who both rank in the Top 8.

Revenge Games on the Bills' 2024 schedule

  • Stefon Diggs @ Bills: Oh, it'll be the storyline of the week in the NFL. I love that this game is in Buffalo and not in Houston.
  • Jordan Poyer (Dolphins) vs. Bills: All-Pro Po will be a part of a divisional showdown after Buffalo decided to let him walk in free agency.
  • Mitch Morse and Gabriel Davis (Jaguars) vs. Bills: Two key characters of the Bills offense over the last few years will be matching up against Buffalo at Orchard Park.

3 Must-watch Matchups

  • Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes: It's the best two quarterbacks in the NFL. Period.
  • Dion Dawkins and Duane Brown vs. Haason Reddick: The Jets got themselves a top pass rusher in Reddick and it'll make the division rivalry even more fun.
  • Jalen Ramsey vs. Keon Coleman: The new Dolphins DC (Anthony Weaver) will likely use Ramsey differently than Vic Fangio and have him shadow the top receiver in Buffalo.
