Nearly every season, we see a team in the National Football League rise from the basement to win a division title. It used to be an almost annual event in the NFC South. Last season, the Washington Redskins became NFC East champions after four straight last-place finishes. And Mike Shanahan’s club did it the hard way, opening 3-6 before closing 2012 with seven straight victories. Every Friday, we will take a brief look back and ahead when it comes to the eight teams that finished a year ago and rank them from worst to best. By season’s end, will one of these clubs claim a division championship? Time will have to tell. Photo Credit: BuffaloBills.com 8. AFC South: Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) Two weeks into the season, the Jaguars have already gone through two starting quarterbacks. And unfortunately for Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne, the duo has combined to lead their team to one touchdown. It’s also not a good sign when your team scores a total of 11 points and gives up 11 sacks in tw...

If the Buffalo Bills want to snap that playoff drought this year, they need a win today in New Jersey against the JETS. EJ Manuel will be going up against Geno Smith (the so called best quarterback in the draft). So far after two games EJ has looked amazing leading the Bills on a fourth […]
Mario Williams hopes to have another big week against Geno Smith and the Jets
This week, the Buffalo Bills leave Orchard Park for the first time this season and head to New Jersey to take on Geno Smith and the New York Jets. This will be the first of hopefully many duels between rookie quarterbacks E.J. Manuel and Geno Smith. Here are some do’s and don’ts for the Bills.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, Ray Rice could miss more than this week. Ray Rice’s hip flexor strain is regarded as a two-week injury. Rice is not expected to play in Sunday’s game against the Texans. Per beat writer Aaron Wilson, Rice’s two-week timetable is “on the safe side.” For now, we […]
BY NICK ST. DENISThe Buffalo Bills are simulating crowd noise Friday in practice, and they'll need it.Buffalo is traveling across the bottom of the state to take on the division rival New York Jets Sunday, and they expect the Jets faithful to be roaring. Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel, however, has just the idea on how to neutralize them."I know it’s going to be loud and...
Bills running back C.J. Spiller will not return to Sunday's game due to a knee injury.Fantasy Spin:This adds injury to insult for fantasy owners, as Spiller had 10 total yards on 11 touches (10 carries, one catch) before leaving the game. He has not lived up to lofty expectations through three games.
Buffalo Bills cornerback Leodis McKelvin is out for the rest of the game against the New York Jets with a hamstring injury.
McKelvin went down twice during the Jets' opening drive in the first quarter Sunday, grabbing at his right hamstring each time. After the second, he slammed his helmet to the ground as he walked to the sideline. McKelvin was examined by trainers, and then...
Publisher Nick St. Denis, associate editor Dan Begnoche and senior contributor Sean Donovan pick the divisional showdown between the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills.Nick's take: E.J. Manuel is throwing more than half of his passes to his running backs and tight end, and that trend continues against a Jets defensive front that will have its ears pinned back. Conversely, Buffalo...
Buffalo Bills (1-1) at New York Jets (1-1)
It’s really early, but the Jets have the best defense in the NFL, by far, in terms of preventing their opponent from moving the chains. They’ve allowed just 51.2% of first and 10s to be converted for a subsequent first down. Getting Tampa Bay week 1 and then a Thursday Night Game in the rain week 2 definitely helps, but you have to be...
The Buffalo Bills have lost C.J. Spiller to injury.
The running back exited Sunday's matchup against the New York Jets due to a knee injury. Spiller was seen limping to the locker room his leg in a wrap during the early part of the fourth quarter.
Kiko Alonso had 8 crunching tackles, a pass deflection and an interception in Buffalo's 27-20 loss to the Jets-Jets-Jets. He returned the pick 32 yards. Alonso was the first Bills rookie to have interceptions in back-to-back games since former Duck Jairus Byrd did it in 2010. Last week he picked off Cam Newton.
Whale of a play: Kiko Alonso returns a second quarter interception...

Despite a timely touchdown pass from their rookie quarterback and a mostly stout showing from their defense the Jets seemingly did their best to bungle away Sunday’s game against Buffalo.
But they survived beating the Bills 27-20 and they are 2-1 entering next weekend’s trip to Tennessee the first of two straight road games.
Sunday was at times an absurd mess. The Jets committed...
I swear, if the New York Jets handedly won a game, us crazed fans wouldn’t know how to act. Another ugly win, smh…but still a win nonetheless. Yesterday, the Jets got it done against the Buffalo Bills, 27-20.
- It’s nice to have an offensive coordinator, Marty Mornhinweg, who calls aggressive games. He recognized the Bills secondary was shorthanded, missing...
