Hello everyone, my name is Mr. Vaughn and I will be your substitute Buffalo Bills game recapper for the next couple weeks. Your regular recapper, Ms. Trish Patel is on vacation (presumably causing chaos and mayhem while sipping Mai Tais). First off, roll call… A-a-ron? Balakay?
Okay, enough of that bit. Here are my main takeaways from Buffalo’s victory over the New Jersey Jets…
I know that we all want the Bills to #abandonthepunt. However, in a gritty defensive showdown like this week, it’s nice to have a guy who can consistently flip field position (and even pin the opposition DEEP) like Sam Martin.
Yes, Martin had a punt blocked, but that wasn’t his fault. The blocking didn’t hold up.
(And yes, I put this first to piss Trish off. #SorryNotSorry.)
Surprisingly, Mike White outperformed Josh Allen in the following statistical categories: completions (27 vs. 16), pass attempts (44 vs. 27), passing yards (268 vs. 147), and rib shots (4 vs. 0). However, Allen recorded more touchdowns than White and the Jets combined (2 vs. 1) and that made the ultimate difference.
Compared to last year, Dawson Knox has been a disappointment in 2022. However, he showed up big against the Jets, recording a team-leading four receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. Hopefully this is just the beginning of his rebound.
Also, that fourth down hard count was very cheeky.

One of the most significant storylines heading into this game was how the Buffalo Bills defensive line would fare without Von Miller. Well, they did pretty darn well…
The Bills are going to need sustained pressure like we saw yesterday from their entire DL going forward.
“Use the force Groot.”
Von Miller (probably)
Every player has a poor game now and then, but this is ridiculous. Dane has been getting burned relentlessly in the second half of the season and yesterday was no different. While he did make a couple good plays, it is time for a change at CB2. (Dane’s recent performance also makes Buffalo’s benching of Kaiir Elam even more questionable.)
I’m mainly saying this to piss Trish off. (But also because #FullbacksMatter.) In all seriousness, Buffalo’s run game – which was red hot over the last couple games – seemed to revert back to early-season form against the Jets. I chalk this up to facing New York’s stout defensive front seven which, before Quinnen Williams’s early exit, was taking the Bills OL’s lunch money. Hopefully the run game returns to November form over the last three weeks of the regular season.
