
Jets coach Rex Ryan plans to play Plaxico Burress when the team opens their preseason schedule on Monday night in Houston. Burress has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
“We won’t put him out there if we think he’s at risk, as with any player,” Ryan said according to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger. “But I’d like to see him get out there for a few snaps. Obviously our first groups don’t go a whole lot, but I’m expecting him to play some.”
Ryan said he does not know if Burress has gone for an MRI, but “I don’t think it’s anywhere close to being that serious.”
“It’s minor,” he said.
Burress was not at this morning’s walk-through, but it was a planned and excused absence, Ryan said. Ryan expects him to participate on a limited level in this afternoon’s practice,
