In an alarming turn of events, ex-Chicago Bears cornerback Buster Skrine is currently embroiled in serious legal trouble and is now on the run. Reports indicate that Skrine, who once aimed to fortify the Bears' defense upon signing with the team in 2019, is now running from the law, facing bank fraud charges in Canada.

A Promising Career Takes a Dark Turn

Skrine's 11-year career included two seasons in Chicago. Playing alongside the likes of Prince Amukamura and Kyle Fuller, Skrine logged eight passes defended, three forced fumbles, and 114 tackles in 28 games with the Bears.

However, his post-NFL life took an unfortunate turn. In August 2023, Canadian authorities arrested Skrine, alleging his involvement in a scheme that siphoned over $100,000 from various banks across the country using fraudulent checks.

The situation has since escalated. Following his release on bail, Skrine missed a critical court date set for May 6, 2024, and severed ties with his court-ordered GPS monitoring, prompting an immediate search by authorities. This shocking development begs the question: how did Skrine, whose NFL career earnings exceeded $40 million, find himself in such dire straits?
