The Jets Blog:
After today’s loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Jets will have plenty of time to do some much needed soul-searching and retooling roster-wise. Now, they have one more thing to add to the list: figuring out what to do with Santonio Holmes. ESPN New York has learned from a “team source” that Holmes “quit” during the final two minutes of the game and was benched by receivers coach Henry Ellard.
“There were guys in the huddle not happy with Santonio’s demeanor throughout the game and in the two-minute drill,” said Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson. “And they said something to him about it.”
The Jets lost 19-17 to the Miami Dolphins. Following the spat with teammates, Holmes was replaced by Patrick Turner.
“It was a coach’s call,” Holmes said. “Patrick came in and tapped me on the shoulder and told me to come out.”
The decision may have come from an assistant coach aware that Holmes had argued with teammates. Turner said he was sent in by wide receivers coach Henry Ellard.

Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes was benched in the final two minutes of the team's 19-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday after arguing with his teammates in the huddle.
Santonio Holmes isn't a popular person amongst Jets teammates these days. One respected Jets veteran said Monday he doesn't see how the wide receiver can come back after a season of underwhelming production and petulant behavior.
There were a lot of ugly moments during the Jets’ meltdown in Miami Sunday, but one stood above the rest. Santonio Holmes, after barking at a teammate in the huddle, was pulled from the game late in the fourth quarter. He sat on the bench with his helmet off, not even paying attention as his…

Somehow, when offensive captain Santonio Holmes was confined to the Jets sideline for much of Sunday's loss to Miami, Jets coach Rex Ryan was not aware of it -- or, more accurately, wasn't sure who had made the call to bench one of his starting wide receivers. It didn't seem like things could get much worse for the Jets following their season-ending loss to the Dolphins and the ensuing drama surrounding wideout Santonio Holmes' end-of-game benching. But then the calendar turned to Monday.
The Jets managed 374 yards, but I can’t tell you how. They had four three-and-outs and never got into any kind of rhythm. Mark Sanchez (21-of-32, 207 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs) did nothing to quiet his critics. His interceptions were all brutal. WR Santonio Holmes (zero catches...
