Blue Cougar Football:
When former Brigham Young Cougars tight end Dennis Pitta takes the field for the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII, he will be the first former BYU player to play in the Super Bowl at one of the skill positions since wide receiver Austin Collie played in Super Bowl XLIV for the Indianapolis Colts. Interestingly, the former Cougar teammates could end up with the same postseason receiving stats during their respective Super Bowl runs.Did you know that Dennis Pitta needs 7 receptions for 104 yards in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers to match Austin Collie's receiving output during the 2009 playoffs? That would be a pretty big day for Pitta, but not too crazy to rule it out.Collie had 17 receptions for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns, including 6 receptions for 66 yards in the Super Bowl. Pitta already has 10 receptions for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns.Comparing regular season stats of these two former Cougars from their Super Bowl seasons is also interesting.Collie: 2009 ...

Courtney Lenz will not be among the Ravens cheerleaders in attendance at Super Bowl XLVII and she believes she wasn't invited because she's retiring at season's end.
Joe Flacco may not be in line for Peyton Manning money, but the Ravens have been saying all the right things this week about getting him a new contract after this season ends.

The Super Bowl is rarely a match-up of two teams that cruise their way into the championship game. Only once since 1993 have the top seeds from either conference made it to the Super Bowl. The fact of the matter is that once you get in to the playoffs, anything is possible. So if that is the case, then the real goal is to simply make it in to the playoffs and then fight, claw, and...
The Baltimore Ravens may be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday, but there has been repeated talks of their offseason plans. Between signing Joe Flacco, and/or letting Ed Reed walk, the Ravens apparently have other plans; this time at the wide receiver position. On NFL Live today, Adam Schefter said that the team may "very well" choose to release Anquan Boldin.
Unhappy with the hard artificial turf at Tulane University's baseball field, the Baltimore Ravens will hold their main practice Thursday at the Saints' facility instead.
The San Francisco 49ers, their opponent in Sunday's Super Bowl, already are training at the Saints' complex in nearby Metairie.
Because Tulane has broken ground on a new football stadium, the AFC...

If anyone should be an expert on safety, hits and the NFL,
youâd think itâd be Ed Reed.
When news broke earlier this week that Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed could see himself playing for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, many took it and ran with it. Assuming that Reed already has one foot out the door ready to head to New England at the conclusion of the Super Bowl. The Ravens [...]

During the 2012 regular season, 11 NFL quarterbacks threw for more than 4,000 yards. Through the 2008 season, only two quarterbacks in league history had ever thrown for more than 5,000 in a single season — Dan Marino with 5,084 in 1984 and Drew Brees with 5,069 in 2008. Then, in 2011, Brees, Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford all threw for over 5,000 yards. Eli Manning just missed...
